Re: Sensor analysis question

Thank you Robin, that’s exactly what I needed to know, I’m enjoying it, I used the brain in 8bit mode last night since I was not sure of the other and it worked nicely on m13, I’ll probably go ahead and upgrade to 4.0 soon to take advantage of this. And yes this is the Qhy485c, it’s not a real popul...

Sensor analysis question

I just ran this on my 485c once in 8 bit and then at 16bit, however I then ran it again in 16bit high gain mode…. I’m just curious if sharpcap knows this and saved it also or over wrote my low gain test…. Sorry if this is documented somewhere, I didn’t see it…. I’m actually kinda confused on when to...

Sharpcap success

Hi Robin, every since I purchased the sharpcap pro license last year I was kinda sad I could never get it to work with my mak, However I just got a refractor and had success my first time out, already imaged m3 and m51 and although I’m still learning , the results were good. My only issue may be the...

Qhy485c processing notes

So this is a 4K chip, it runs approx 44fps, I have a i7 with 16gigs of ram and have configured sharpcap to use about half of that which is the max sharpcap allows. This camera creates so much data that it does fill your memory up. I was taking daytime infrared of the moon yesterday and 1800 frames a...

Re: Sharpcap May be incompatible with optane

Hi, went out again tonight and took a ser of Mars, I did not get the bug report prompt but same behavior, it was capturing mars at 135fps, dropping frame like mad and then doing the countdown of saving frames til it reaches 5, I think it just finished a little faster is the reason I didn’t get the b...

Re: Sharpcap May be incompatible with optane

just a update, apparently a wrong diagnosis to blame optane because the problem occured again last night while capturing moon with qhy462c, dropping frame rate and eventually the countdown of frame writing dialog with the hang of 5 frames to go, i do get the dialog box also saying sharpcap has quit ...

Re: Sharpcap May be incompatible with optane

Yeah your explanation is similar to what I thought might be going on, lucky we do have the option to just turn optane off, so it just acts as a regular ssd afterwards, it’s almost a mute point since the announcement Intel was going to discontinue but people should be aware , I did see someone say th...

Re: Sharpcap May be incompatible with optane

Btw, apparently it’s not something anyone will need to worry about going forward, Intel is axing optane, last consumer Intel drives end in February

Sharpcap May be incompatible with optane

Hi Robin, just a heads up, was doing lunar imaging tonight and I think I ran in to the issue people complain about optane, after each shot completed I was faced with about 500 frames in the buffer that I was waiting for the write... it went pretty quick but consistently paused with 5 frames left, it...

Re: 64 bit vs 32 bit

Robin, downloaded 64bit and played with it inside... seems to work great and my concern with the histogram in the other thread appears to be fine now, im still mainly using your program for planetary because the combo of qhy462c and 180mm mak makes detecting stars almost undoable for live stacking, ...
