Re: M57 Ring nebula and its faint outer shell (HaRGB)

Thanks Nick :)
Here it really is very bad for over 8 weeks now. There were some clear nights but (of course) in a week where I was doing some sailing races here.
But it's getting colder here now, so here is hoping :)

Re: Flats on my 9.25 hd sct

HI I had issues like this in the past when I started. What helped to get good flats and calibrated stacks, was to use the same settings for the flats as the subs except the exposure time. So for example when capturing my subs with Gain 120, Offset 10 , my flats have those same settings and I alter t...

Re: Data suggests need for some Flat post-processing

Hi Chris Question: do you capture your flats during capturing? So with a cooled camera? I ask because that pattern looks like you have ice forming on you sensor. This can happen in multiple forms. When it happens like this, you almost don't notice it in your subs but it will on flats. You can check ...

Re: M57 Ring nebula and its faint outer shell (HaRGB)

Thanks Dave :) Capturing that outer shell isn't actually that difficult. I mean, this is only 11 x 600sec with Ha/OIII and it's showing rather well already. Below a size reduced crop of that stack with only a auto-stretch with SiriL. That outer shell is already showing. And if you download it yourse...

M57 Ring nebula and its faint outer shell (HaRGB)

Since there seems to be an everlasting period of clouds here (going 8 weeks now :( ), I decided to to some re-processing of older data. In the is case M57 Ring Nebula. In 2021 I made captures of it, including Ha with my then new Optolong L-eXtreme filter. The results back then were okay, the outer s...

Re: New Feature : SharpSolve - SharpCap's new built-in plate solver

Hi Robin Just did a test with captures I made with my Meade LX200 8" f/10 (20232mm) and Zwo ASI482MC camera. Theoretical this gives small values for all: - resolution: 0.59"x0.59" per pixel - field of View: 0.31° x 0.18° - Dawes Limit: 0.57 arc/secs But this new 0,25 FOV has no proble...

Re: Camera setup SV305

Hello

Good to see you solved it.
There is no "Solved" option in this forum.
You can delete it yourself if you want (or I can do it) or you can leave it as it might be something for someone else with similar thing in the future to find a solution in.

New Zwo camera drivers V3.23 and SDK 1.31

Zwo released new software: drivers are updated to V3.23 and ASI SDK to V1.31.
Sadly the Zwo site still is not giving info on changes. So I presume it's a change to add the most recent models.
The software is on https://www.zwoastro.com/downloads

Re: New Feature : SharpSolve - SharpCap's new built-in plate solver

Hi Robin Finally had the chance to test this with the latest version ... and it works great and indeed lightning fast! :D Even with my small FOV is works just fine. Tested it with the Folder Monitor Camera on multiple captures made with FL 2100mm (FOV 0,6448x0,4283 degrees) and no problems at all. T...
