Re: SharpCap Gain
Hi Brian, the gain values on Altair cameras (and also some other brands) work differently to the ones on ZWO/SVBony/etc. Altair gains start at 100, which is the lowest possible gain for the camera. Gain 200 is twice as bright as 100, 400 is four times as bright and so on. It's actually quite logical...

Re: Cooler Control without effect
Hi,
I would suggest checking to see if the firmware/FPGA/etc info matches your friends camera too.
cheers,
Robin

Re: Web Server
Hi Pete, don't know if this is the cause, but in the import it is asking for 'socketserver' (all lower case), and I can see that the file included in the library zip is 'SocketServer.py' with capital letters. Maybe that is stopping it finding the module? The way to test would be to grab the 'Pythonl...

Re: IMprovements to Fits Header
Hi Gary, Adding a JD_UTC hearer for the time of mid-exposure is possible - even not too hard :) The other two are trickier. Right now SharpCap doesn't have any source for airmass data - I presume that getting this data wound involve talking to an ASCOM observing conditions driver and working from th...

Re: Cooler Control without effect
Hi, well, it sounds as though some things are slowly being worked out... From the ASCOM point of view, it seems that using the 'Setup' window turns off the cooler, but SharpCap still thinks it is on, so you get no response from the controls until you turn off and on again (after which SharpCap and t...

Re: Platesolve3
Hi, PlateSolve3 is supported in SharpCap 4.1, but not in 4.0. You do need to point SharpCap at the executable file for PlateSolve3 (it does not auto-detect the location), and it's probably worth getting PS3 working nicely from the PS3 UI (appropriate settings, etc) before using from SharpCap, since ...

Re: asi294mm fits header bug affects ASTAP plate solving
Hi Alan, yes, that's right - it gives access to custom ROI. In theory the custom ROI could be done for both modes, but the code involved in dealing with the two mdes adds a lot of complexity, then custom ROI areas adds more... Too much risk of something unforseen breaking the whole lot :( cheers, Ro...

Re: ErrorCode 0x800004003 using ASCOMDSLR
Hi Manfred, glad you got it sorted. The '.' and ',' issue traps a lot of software into issues, especially when reading/writing settings. I think SharpCap is largely OK now with '.' and ',' swapped (I have had enough users in France/Germany/etc for long enough to find and fix almost all the issues). ...

Re: Brightness with the new QHY5III678m
Hi, I think that the QHY SDK is giving SharpCap back 12 bit data for the camera (maximum pixel value 4095) rather than 16 bit data (maximum pixel value 65535) - this might be an issue with the QHY SDK, but if so then there is no current update (you have SharpCap 4.0.9545, which uses the latest QHY S...

Re: Temperature log file for focuser ?
Hi, ah, OK. Interesting though... I now have 3 Pegasus Astro autofocusers on various telescopes, so I have been using their 'Unity' application lots. That logs the focuser temperature to an on-screen graph, and I keep meaning to ask them to log the position too. From that sort of dual graph of focus...
