Re: cooling options
Ah, Ok. I would have expected some warning from the manufacturers if thermal shock from a physical point of view were expected to be a significant problem, but I can see that there is an issue with humidity control during the cooling process. I'm pretty much only fixing bugs now for 2.10, but will k...

Re: Auto WB not working
The problem is that ASCOM only gives access to some very basic controls, so that the most SharpCap can show is resolution, binning, exposure, gain and cooler. Other controls for an ASCOM driver *may* be available in the ASCOM driver setup dialog (press the 'Show' button for the options), but what's ...

Re: Auto WB not working
I wouldn't recommend using the ZWO ASCOM drivers with SharpCap as you get better control of the camera through built-in support. ASCOM support is really there for cameras (like may Atik or Starlight Express) that SharpCap doesn't support directly. If you do work out the exact situation under which t...

Re: Auto WB not working
Ok, please try the following test for me (no need for astro test, just taking the cap off the camera so you get a yellow/orange blur onscreen will be fine) * Adjust the exposure so that what you see onscreen is some sort of yellow/orange colour - make sure it's not saturated white or solid black * T...

Re: Disk speed test
The disk write speed test was (as you might have noticed) a bit of a quickly thrown together feature - starting out for my internal testing to find out if capture rates were being limited by disk speed or camera speed. To be honest, the numbers are going to scale pretty evenly, so if you have double...

Re: cooling options
Hi Clive,
I may be being dim here, but what's the benefit in this case to staged cooling? You mention dessicant so I guess it has to be something to do with humidity, but I'm not seeing it I'm afraid.
cheers,
Robin

Re: Auto WB not working
Hi,
I don't have a 1600MC, but have tested with a 174MC and an 071C and in both cases the auto white balance seems to work for me. Does nothing at all happen when you press the button or does the white balance change but to something that isn't correct?
thanks,
Robin

Re: Crosshairs with Zoom not centering
Definitely something not quite right when you move between different zoom levels - the crosshairs should stay over the same point in the image when you change zoom and they don't. Thanks for the report.

Re: Should I use multiple SharpCaps to control multiple cameras simultaneously?
Hi,
yes, there is no problem with running more than one copy of SharpCap at the same time.
If you want to use two high speed cameras then you will need a fast, multi core CPU. If you want to use two high resolution cameras then you will need plenty of memory.
cheers,
Robin

Re: AVI Compression
Hi, SharpCap never compresses an AVI itself, but if your camera produces compressed data (MJPG, YUY2, etc) it will pass that straight through to the saved file. What you are seeing is most likely not compression but just a side effect of the fact that AVI files are (unfortunately) vastly flexible an...
