Jupiter Chronicles

Found this during a disk tidy, posted to encourage those starting out - persistence is the key. June2017-January2024.PNG Both were captured with a Celestron C8 SCT and ZWO ASI120MC USB2 camera. The 2017 image was captured with SharpCap 3, stacked with Autostakkert 2, tortured with Registax 6 and 'fi...

Re: Jupiter: C8, 2X barlow, ASI120MC

On the night of the capture I had 5 videos captured in less than 3 minutes (5x22=110s). 110s satisfies the 3 minutes maximum capture for Jupiter recommended by imagers such as Damian Peach and Martin Lewis ( https://skyinspector.co.uk/ ). I used WinJUPOS to process and combine the 5 images. This is ...

Re: Jupiter: C8, 2X barlow, ASI120MC

Thanks Bob. A decent result for 22s of capture. The Planetary LiveStack is on my to do list. I was thinking I can use the data for the above image and carry out some testing on the bench. I was hoping there might be some Gallery posts appearing which give details of capture/processing setting. Dave

Re: Tips needed for imaging the 2024 solar eclipse

John I found this https://www.amazingsky.com/EclipseBook . Might be worth an $11 investment given how often these events come along. I found this via the astrobackyard website https://astrobackyard.com/how-to-photograph-a-solar-eclipse/#:~:text=As%20a%20review%2C%20a%20solar,a%20particular%20point%2...

Re: Tips needed for imaging the 2024 solar eclipse

John

A search on Astrobin for 'solar eclipse' gives many pages of images. Searching through these will give you some ideas for capture. Look for the ones that are 'Image of The Day', 'Top Picks' or have many 'Likes'.
