Re: SharpCap and PHD2

Hi, the max dither step used by SharpCap is measured in guide camera pixels, so if you use 10 then SharpCap will ask PHD2 to dither up to 10 pixels (PHD2 picks a random amount up to the maximum). That will work out to be a dither of up to 30 arc seconds given your pixel scale. I think the scale opti...

Re: Focussing tools?

Hi, if you have connected the integrated camera then it sounds like you are viewing the image from the built in webcam in your laptop (lots of them have names like 'Integrated camera'). This camera obviously won't be affected by your ZWO EAF movement - you need to select your actual astro camera as ...

Re: Polar Alignment 4.1 64 bit bug

Hi, well, it's good to hear the the latest version worked fine for you, but I am still puzzled about why 4.1.11711 would misbehave - I just checked the code changes between the two versions and there doesn't seem to be anything relevant to polar alignment results... The only thing that does come to ...

Re: ToupTek Filter Wheel works not correctly

Hi, thanks for reporting - I can definitely fix the 'FILTERWHEEL' showing up as a camera - I did have an email about this from ToupTek, but at the time I did not really understand what they were referring to, but it all makes sense now ;) I tried installing the ToupTek ASCOM driver from https://www....

Re: How do I use the focussing assistant?

Hi,

there are plenty of videos showing how to work this made by SharpCap end-users - have a look and see which ones have a presentation style that you like

We don't have official tutorial videos for SharpCap though.

Re: When starting SharpCap

Hi Louis,

thanks for the log - it could be a timing issue that sometimes the state of the connection has updated properly by the time SharpCap checks it and sometimes it hasn't. I will investigate and see if it is possible for SharpCap to check more than once with a small delay allowed.

Re: name/id for stars in full catalog

Hi,

SharpCap is using the Hipparcos catalog numbers for stars, so for instance Rigel is HIP 24436

Re: When starting SharpCap

Hi,

I have just checked and I can't make anything like that error happen here - please can you post the SharpCap log captured after the error has happened so that I can see if there is any more useful info in the log that might explain what is going on.

thanks,

Robin

Re: QHY178c and 247c – lots of troubles

Hi, the most significant difference between the two versions of SharpCap as far as communicating with QHY cameras is the different version of the QHY SDK - 4.0 contains a version from May 2023, 4.1 contains a newer version from October 2023. This is the 'qhyccd.dll' that is installed in the SharpCap...
