Re: M47 (Open star cluster) & M42 (Final revision)

Hi Rick, For focus you could use the two focus tools in Sharpcap to help dial it in not sure if you are manually or electronically focusing if manual you are going to need the laptop or PC near the scope or get fit jogging backwards and forwards :D once I achieve a good focus and have started imagin...

Re: Flats in Sharpcap

Hi Pete,
I only take dark flats as I use them in Astro Pixel Processor not SharpCap from what Robin was saying in my post about Darks with the ASI2600mc Flats + Bias is sufficient.

Cheers
Nick

Re: Flats in Sharpcap

Hi Pete, Dark Flat or Flat Dark are just an exposure the same as your flat with the scope covered, not sure why you have to shoot 2-3s flats with the ASI2600MC as mine works fine between 200-300ms which is were I am normally running them with my flat panel with the same gain as my other calibration ...

Re: Flats in Sharpcap

Hi Robin, I usually aim for 200 - 300ms as I did try very short exposure flats can't remember whether it was with the old 183C ASI1600MM or the new ASI2600MC and at really short exposure I had some weird patterning but not sure if this was the sensor or to do with the frequency that the flat panel w...

Re: field of view and settings

Not sure if you have an electronic focuser or not or whether you are manual focusing if you have an electronic focuser assume you have it setup in SharpCap. To get my initial focus for polar alignment / stars in general I usually set the exposure at 2 to 3 seconds and gain at 50 - 60% of the slider ...

Re: M42/43 Orion ASI2600MC-PRO

Hi Tim Thanks for that this is the first time I have really managed to get the running man to come out as the two previous attempts over the past couple of years did not really show it the more I use the ASI2600MC-PRO the more impressed I am with it I have the ASI1600MM-PRO + Astonomik narrowband an...

Re: 32 or 64 Bit?

Hi Robin, Bit of a late reply to this one but for info I have the ASI2600 so have to use the 64bit version I can confirm that I had to change the PC as the I7 I had did not support AVX2 I could open Sharpcap and would get the warning you say about and the moment you tried to open the camera it would...

Re: field of view and settings

Hi Henry, That camera uses the IMX290 sensor so is quite small as an overall cell size so will have quite a tight field of view I use the Altair 290M as my guide camera. I think the SVBONY305 is this sensor with a colour matrix on top, when you say you could only see one bright star I take it you re...

Re: I am on target and using live stacking...

I think PHD signals when it has completed the dither so SharpCap knows it is guiding again as sharpcap changes to the 1ms subs until dither is indicated as complete. On my setup I get different numbers of the short guide frames so it tends to suggest that sharpcap is waitng for PHD to confirm this o...

Re: Flats in Sharpcap

I believe the gain should be the same which is the way I shoot them, could you not add some additional sheets of paper to make the output dimmer. I have to do this with my flat generator it is the Geoptik one as it is too bright with out I used the plastic sheets they use for photography for soft li...
