1s Dither ignored frames not added to FWHM chart
Hi Robin, I use the live stack to access the build up of the image and also for the FWHM chart to access the focus per image as it changes through the course of the evening. Until recently I never dithered due to the loss of imaging exposures but with the new feature to change to 1s exposures whilst...

Re: PhD2 Dithering Control ETA?
I use the live stack with save individual frames and last imaging session used it with the new dither function and can't fault it as it lost 12 to 15s per dither which would be the case for any imaging package whilst the dither is underway and then instantly changes back to the correct exposure once...

Re: HFD vs FWHM for Focusing
Hi Robin, Yes it makes sense I usually use the single star option when using the FWHM as I find the multi star suddenly reports 20 even if the preceding frame was looking reasonable. If I am having fluctuation issues I tend to use the bahtinov mask and visually access the crossing point by eye other...

Re: IC1795 Fish Head Nebula Ha / Oiii / Sii first time dithering
Hi Bruce, I think the image did look better with the dithering as the hot pixels and any pattern noise is broken up I have not used it in the past due to the loss of imaging time but since the last update were Robin makes the camera switch to 1s exposures and discard them while the dither is occurri...

IC1795 Fish Head Nebula Ha / Oiii / Sii first time dithering
Rather unexpectedly the weather cleared last night so rather than going to bed went out to the observatory to have a play with the new option for dithering as I gave never dithered before with SharpCap due to the loss of long exposures every 4 to 5 frames. The wind was a little higher than normal so...

HFD vs FWHM for Focusing
Hi Robin, I have been doing some reading which is always a dangerous starting point :D , in regard to focusing methods and from what I have read HFD gives a more consistent value when accessing the star during focusing as it is less affected by the conditions between the optics and the star. With th...

Weird Histogram with Dither
Hi Robin, I have not seen this before with the histogram when I have been imaging but last night was the first time I have used dithering as the new option for 1s means I do not lose 180s each time actual it usually took 12-16s last night per dither. However after each progressive dither I started t...

Alternative Plate Solver
Hi Robin,
Are there any plans to include the ability to use the ASTAP plate solver in Sharpcap as it appears to be getting a lot of good reviews in terms of the speed of solving, I have tried it via NINA and it is quick.

Cheers
