Smart Histogram and Darks
What is the best sequence of events to use Darks and the Smart Histogram function for live stacking? I tried to capture and apply Darks after using Smart Histogram to set my camera exposure, gain, and brightness setting. After capturing the darks and applying the average in the "Preprocessing&q...

Sensor Analysis - ZWO ASI178MC
I'm looking for some additional detail regarding exactly how to do this. The brief instructions mention preference for a natural light source and low levels. I read others mentioning using a white t-shirt or otherwise. Some are doing it inside and not outside. Please let me know if this is an accept...

Re: Re-Stacking Saved Frames
An Update...using AutoStakkert to open one of my saved frames I found that the bayer scheme is GRBG rather than RGGB that I had been using. Still, after debayering all of the images and my averaged dark frame using the correct debayering scheme, the resulting stack using DSS is almost completely was...

Re: ASI178MC Debayer Pattern?
Thanks Dave! Per your suggestion yesterday I downloaded Autostakkert and opened one of the saved images and it reported "GRBG" for my ASI178MC. I then used PIPP to debayer using that pattern it appears to be correct. I'll try your SER player method as well just to confirm.

ASI178MC Debayer Pattern?
I found elsewhere on the internet that RGGB should be the debayer pattern for this camera but the results aren't looking right. I'm using PIPP to do the debayering process. Can anyone confirm if RGGB is correct and/or what other pattern would be correct?

Re-Stacking Saved Frames
Hello Everyone, I was using SharpCap live stacking with an ZWO ASI178MC camera to capture M81 and the program crashed after about 600 frames. Fortunately I had "Save Individual Frames" turned on. Looking at them, I can clearly see faint representations of galaxy spirals. I've tried several...

Dark Frame Preprocessing Changes the Histogram
Hi Everyone, I'm using a ZWO ASI178 with SharpCap for Live Stacking. I first do all of the setup, focus, and histogram settings and then capture dark frames. When I then put the averaged dark frame into the "Preprocessing" field, the histogram then shifts to the left quite a bit, cutting o...
