Re: Check Device File

I see what you mean about the name being different, although I suspect that this probably isn't the root cause of the problem. SharpCap gets a list of available DirectShow devices straight from Windows and asks for the 'Friendly Name' of each device - it's possible that AMCAP is getting it's device ...

Re: Assistance

Hi Doug, in 2.9 or 2.10, to get SharpCap to talk to your mount you need to go to the SharpCap settings in the File menu, go to the Hardware tab and pick your EQASCOM mount from the list of ASCOM mounts. Once you have done that you will see a new control appear in the right hand panel allowing you to...

Re: GPCAM dropping frames

Hi, I haven't seen that particular problem with the GPCAM, but the usual things to play with when dealing with dropped frames are check USB cables (use a short one for testing), try different USB ports and adjust the USB Speed parameter of the camera. If at all possible try a different PC too as a c...

Re: Check Device File

Thanks for the further info - please could you try the 2.10 beta version of SharpCap to see if that helps, as in some ways it has a simpler handling of Webcams and Frame grabber devices than 2.9. Also, it would be useful to understand a bit more about the AverMedia USB device you are using - is ther...

Re: Check Device File

Hi, are you using SharpCap 2.9 or the beta of 2.10? If you are using 2.10, did it work in the previous (2.9) version of SharpCap. The reason that I ask is that the handling for webcams and frame grabbers has been rewritten for 2.10 and it's entirely possible that there are still bugs in the new code...

Re: Atik414EXC Ascom drivers

Please try the latest version (2.10.3678) - I think this issue is already fixed in that version.

thanks,

Re: Beginners misfortune: "Not solving"

I think we are only going to get to the bottom of this when I get my hands on a Starlight Express camera for testing - the ASCOM driver is obviously not behaving in the way that SharpCap expects and that's making it very hard to diagnose what is going on exactly. If it was crashing, the log would sh...

Re: Atik414EXC Ascom drivers

Hi Don, yes, it is, but in that one it doesn't look like you tried to open any cameras at all - all I can see is the device list being reloaded a couple of times. What you need to do is make the error happen - ie try to open the camera and let whatever error message shows appear, then after that, go...

Re: Live stacking while polar aligning

Yes, I see, a simple stacking of 5 or so frames to boost the star detection might suffice. Interesting idea - thanks.

Re: Using different languages in the user interface

There is actually a partial translation to Chinese courtesy of ZWO, but that was done some time ago and lots of new UI has been added since that is only in English. It's actually quite a bit of work even to get the code into shape to allow translation of the new bits, something that will have to wai...
