Re: Latest version 4.0 keeps disconnecting

Hi, were you using relatively long exposures in 16 bit? There have been issues with the USB2 versions of the 120MM and 120MC in those situations - some people find working settings, others struggle. The USB3 versions seem to be more reliable. You can find a number of discussions of this sort of thin...

Re: I can't get SharpCap 4.0.79440 to work with Basler Pylon6

Hi, the 'packed' option means that the 12 bit data comes from the camera to the PC as two pixels packed into 3 bytes. Non-packed means that each pixel takes 2 bytes, so in theory the packed option gets more FPS out of the network bandwidth at the expense of a bit of extra CPU load to do the unpackin...

Re: I can't get SharpCap 4.0.79440 to work with Basler Pylon6

Hi Alan,

I hope it is as simple as byte swapping the data - ie a quick fix. If not I might be tempted not to show the 12 bit (non packed) option if 12 bit (packed) is available - i.e. make it nearly impossible to get to the bug situation.

cheers,

Robin

Re: automatic choice of the best dark

Hi, right now this is not something that SharpCap can do by itself, although I think you could build something like this based on SharpCap's python scripting funcitonality if you have any experience in programming. Out of interest, how are you planning on getting the dark frames at different tempera...

Re: Does Sharpcap normalise channels when capturing flats?

Hi, histogram 3 is the histogram of a RAW image that hasn't been debayered being treated as a mono image - so you see three spikes from the three sets of coloured pixels (R,G,B). That's basically expected behaviour if you work with the image in that particular way. If you use the flat from (3) then ...

Ok,

thanks, I will put that one on the 'to fix' list.

cheers,

Re: Latest version 4.0 keeps disconnecting

Hi Dave, if you have a dodgy connection then SharpCap will put an entry in the log every time the device disconnects - something like Info 18:06:50.554027 #27 Processed hardware change removal event for \\?\USB#VID_03C3&PID_120D#5&31b9d28b&0&20#{c5b27530-3592-4e87-9e99-c2bafd5e5692} ...

Re: Does Sharpcap normalise channels when capturing flats?

Hi, actually the procedure is 1) debayer image to full colour 2) at each pixel calculate luminosity = (R+G+B)/3 (not using the more complicated weighted r/g/b that is sometimes used in image processing) 3) you now have a mono image of the calculated luminosity above - the colour information has been...

Re: PA without view of celestial pole

Hi, I think that if the software measures the dec drift at two points that are 90 degrees apart in RA then you know the two components of the PA error (E/W movement and up/down movement). Once you know that you can do the 'move star into target' thing from anywhere in the sky (with plate solving res...
