Re: Cloning the author will result in faster updates and implementation of features

I know buddy, I'm just making light humor of it to somehow raise awareness about your superhuman efforts :) However, I'm still determined to get you duplicated - 'Calvin & Hobbes' style! Don't look at me like that, you suggested it... All the best with striking that balance you speak of, I know it's...

Cloning the author will result in faster updates and implementation of features

Dear friends, I see a lot of feature suggestions and a recurring underlying response from the author, so here's my light-bulb-moment to a potential solution: Sharpcap is really a fantastic program and has without a doubt revolutionized my own approach to astrophotography, as I continue to abandon "o...

Rosette Nebula | 5x1800s stacks of 30s QHY183C Moon&Skyglow Esprit80 f/5 AVX SC DSS PI PS | 20/01/2018 Minos K

Shot the Rosette Nebula last night, but I tried something different in SharpCap 3.1.4954.0, I acquired 5x30minute live stacks from 30s unguided exposures (74%) gain and then took those live stacks and stacked them in DSS for further SNR enhancement and sigma clipping of outliers. Very happy with the...

Thanks guys! Dave, gain would be 36/54 so 67% and offset is 67/255 so 26%, hope this helps someway! Yes, PEC is awesome and the PECtool software with PHD2 used to capture it works well. I would like to do a comparison 30s frame livestack with PEC on and off to see if there is a noticeable effect. It...

Re: Record Focal Length with images

Hi Howard, that's really interesting about the 19% change due to the filter glass thickness! Also, nice creative way to insert a note into your capture file, I use an ASCOM filter wheel so I don't have that option...hmmm! :) I posted another thread about inserting a notes section for the live stack,...

Here you go Dave! :) Yes, unguided, used PHD2 to create a PEC curve with celestron's PECTOOL software using the scope itself to guide instead of a guide camera. Hi guys thanks for your comments :) I haven't yet tried the "brain" yet, I'm really looking forward to it as it seems awesome and very useful. I approach my targets a little different lately, I've set myself a 30 second challenge on every target and simply adjust the gain to compensate for the brigh...
