Re: Request for development

Hi, Yes, I've done cross-platform stuff at various times too and it definitely adds to the complexity of the work. Perhaps if I'd of picked a cross-platform approach from the start it would have been plausible. The problem is that all the cross-platform UI frameworks I've ever encountered are much l...

Re: Rippled "mask" over live image with ZWO.

Hi, First guess is that maybe you've turned on the flat correction feature in SharpCap using a frame that isn't actually a very good flat frame, so that it's actually introducing problems rather than fixing them. Have a look in the controls on the right-hand side and ensure that the 'Apply Flat' con...

Re: Request for development

Hi,

I'm afraid there's no real chance of a Linux version in the future – the amount of work required to rewrite the UI and other aspects of the program to cope with Linux is far more than I have time for.

Re: Exposure in file name

Actually, there is. I did this in one of the updates of SharpCap 3.2 a few weeks back and then I obviously forgot to tell anybody about it! If you download the latest builds you'll find that there is a new SubExposure tag available in the file name templating system which allows this problem to be r...

Re: SharpCap and StellariumScope not working together

Hi Mike,

great to hear that it's all working now. This one trips up a lot of people because it's only required for certain mount drivers. For instance EQMod handles this all on its own as to the latest version of the Celestron drivers.

Re: QHY-174M GPS Freezes at Random Times

Hi, Please have a look at the link at the top of this page in the orange box about troubleshooting USB issues. USB hubs can often cause the sort of problem you are describing, so the first thing to do be to get back to the simplest possible set up (computer-> cable-> camera) and see if that can be m...

Re: Point Grey GS3-U3-15S5M-C 2/3" Grasshopper-8 bit only?

Hi, Thanks for reporting this issue – I was unaware of it but I can certainly seem to reproduce at least part of it with the blackfly camera that I have to test with. The 12 bit mode also hangs for me. For me the 16 bit mode does give correct greyscales, but I find I often have two close down SharpC...

Re: last frame statistic

Hi, The last frame value shows you the amount of time it took for the last frame to be grabbed from the camera. Typically you'd expect this to be very slightly higher than the exposure value to account for a little bit of time needed to download the frame from the camera. Of course it is the value f...

Re: SharpCap and StellariumScope not working together

Hi, I think what is happening is that the first piece of software to connect to the mount takes control of the serial port and then when the second piece of software tries to connect it can't get access to the serial port and therefore fails. Some manufacturers put together mount Ascom drivers that ...
