Re: QHY168c Gain Scaling question

Hi, You're quite right that the unity gain value is somewhere between gain 1 and gain 2. The only thing that is a little unusual about those results is that the read noise isn't dropping off significantly as you go to higher gains which you would usually expect. The fact that the read noise doesn't ...

Thanks. It least it rules out that possibility although I'm not quite sure what it leaves is a possibility!

Re: Polar Alignment Adjustments

Hi,

Actually you are right – there is a magnifier tool built into Windows. That would probably help.

Re: Advanced saving in live stack is bugged

Hi,

Yes, both bit depth of saved in the autosave as it's difficult to know for sure which one the user will want. Easier to save both and let the user delete the one they don't want them to have some possibly complicated way to set which one to save by default.

Re: Mean and SD Units on Histogram

Hi,

Have you put your camera into 12 bit mode by selecting RAW12 or RAW16 as the colour space instead of RAW8 or RGB 24. To me it sounds like you are still in an eight bit colour space.

Re: Band suppression & threshold sliders

Hi, The fact that banding suppression is set to 0 means that it is switched off and that means that the threshold parameter has no effect. The settings files are deliberately complete – that is they record the value of all controls to give a complete representation of how the image was captured. Che...

Re: Computer does not recognize ASI178MC it did before

Hi, The fact that the cameras and showing up in device manager is telling you that for some reason is not communicating with a computer at all. Sometimes in these circumstances you will see a device in the device manager with an '!' icon which might be the camera not being identified correctly – it'...

Re: Sensor Analysis: Altair Astro HyperCam 183C Pro: Frustration.

Hi, Setting the USB speed to the maximum value would likely speed up the process a bit as it increases the frame rate when you are taking short exposures. It doesn't have any significant effect once the exposure length gets above about 1/10 of a second however. How you illuminating the sensor when y...

Re: First timer, focusing (?) problem

Hi, Glad to hear that you are back in business. Remember that live stacking doesn't make the image grow brighter as more frames are added – instead it makes the noise level in the image gradually reduce as more and more frames are added to the stack. This can be harder to notice, but if you look car...
