Re: Brain icon doesn't show - I have a valid license

Hi, Windows 10 education edition shouldn't be a problem at all. I think what concerns me is the fancy tricks you are having to go through to get the camera into raw 16 mode – what I think is problem happening is that the camera isn't really going into that mode properly for some reason, but it works...

Re: Increasing data loss / clipping through capture session?

Hi, The only SX camera that I have to experiment with is the lodestar, and I haven't seen any problems like this with it although I'm not sure that I've ever run it for an hour at a time in testing. It may be worth doing some additional testing during daylight to see if you can reproduce the issue o...

Re: Filter Number in FITS header

Hi,

Thanks for the log – I have a couple of ideas now and will try to put some extra logging code into the next update that will help me to work out exactly where things are going wrong.

Re: Smart Historgram and filters

Hi, Yes, absolutely right. You need to fit the filter before you measure the sky brightness using the brain as a light pollution filter will definitely reduce the sky brightness and lead to longer sub exposure times being calculated. There's no need to worry about having a filter or not if you do th...

Re: Problems with PoleMaster

Hi, unfortunately me having a pole master camera is really going to help much – I can't fix this issue myself anyway because it's obviously something that has changed in the code that is written by qhy. When you copy the older qhy DLL onto the later SharpCap then everything works fine. So far qhy se...

Re: Brain icon doesn't show - I have a valid license

Hi, Well I can see one thing which is that the range of the gain control on your camera is up to 4095, which I've never seen before on a qhy camera. Previously I've seen QHY cameras with gains that go up to about 60 and are measured in dB and gains that go up to about 600 and are measured in tenths ...

Re: QHY247C issues

Hi, You should be able to find the log files from previous runs of SharpCap in this folder C:\Users\robin\AppData\Local\SharpCap\logs (Just replace the Robin with your Windows username) Those are the logs that I need rather than the SharpCap.exe.log. Note that turning on the additional logging while...

Re: Filter Number in FITS header

Hi Greg,

Please can you send me your SharpCap log file – please capture it after you have opened the camera and move the filter wheel a bit.

Re: Undo last stack

The other option right now is to use the sigma clipped stacking option which will reject things like satellite trails after the first 10 frames or so because the bright pixels on the trail are statistically too different to the pixel values built up so far in that position . I do like the idea of th...
