Re: Trailing/Drifting Stars

Hi, I think the reason that this happens is that aligning is unavailable if you end up using a raw image mode from the camera and you have unselected the debayering option in the Control Panel on the right-hand side. When SharpCap detects this condition it turns off aligning automatically (because t...

Re: Live Stack with Flat Frame Bug?

Hi, By default, SharpCap will reload your settings from the last time you use the camera. However by holding the control key down while the cameras opening can disable this behaviour to reset the camera to its default settings as specified by the manufacturer. See https://docs.sharpcap.co.uk/3.2/#Au...

Re: Issues with QHY168C

Hi Joe,

That's great news! I suspect you are right to guess that the initial crash was caused by settings saved from the previous version that may be are no longer appropriate to the new update of the camera software. Looking forward to seeing your Astro images!

Re: QHY5III290 good . . .QHY183M bad

For this sort of test I'd recommend using the software created by the camera manufacturer. I think that qhy make something called 'EZ planetary' or similar. Another option would be to install the Ascom platform and the qhy Ascom driver for your camera and see if that gives any better results (you ca...

Re: Strange behaviour

Hi, I think it's to do with the fact that you are using the WebCam driver for that camera. Some WebCam drivers give images that are upside down for some reason and I'm guessing that this is one of those cameras. It looks like the old version of SharpCap doesn't deal with that situation and therefore...

Re: Auto focus go to best position overshoot amount

I'm told that not buying any new kit is the only thing that has any influence on the getting the clouds to go away. :-)

Re: Plate Solving

Hi, You had me worried there, but it turns out that everything is working as it should. SharpCap displays declination with a North/South suffix rather than with a plus/minus sign before the value. Unfortunately the S as the suffix is easily confused with the digit 5, which I think is what has happen...

Re: Auto focus go to best position overshoot amount

Hi, If I recall correctly, it goes to the position that the focus scan started at before then moving back to the best focus position. So, as long as your focus scan started at least 200 steps away from the best position you should be fine. If it started less than 200 steps away then you should be ab...

Re: QHY5III290 good . . .QHY183M bad

Hi, If at all possible I would test the 183 camera on another computer and also with different software. If it continues to malfunction in both of those circumstances then it may be that the camera has a problem. If you can get it to work nicely either a different computer or with different software...

Re: Plate Solving

Oops, yes – I get the same result when I try to solve an image with a negative declination.

I will get a to doubt very quickly for that. Thanks for posting.
