Re: Sharpcap dropping connection with Synscan App
Hi, from the look of the error, the communication between the Synscan ASCOM driver and the actual mount is dropping out at times, meaning that SharpCap cannot read the state of the mount or send it commands. If you are using a wireless connection between the two then consider anything that could be ...

Re: Camera Stopped sending any images, including Live View or framing
Hi, the thing to look out for in terms of frames coming from the camera is bottom left rather than bottom right - keep an eye on the first number as shown below (6 in this case), which is the number of frames received from the camera since it was opened (or since you changed resolution or bit depth,...

Re: Gain for Uranus-c IMX585
Hi, not got experience of this camera personnaly, but fortunately PlayerOne have published the sensor data graphs on their web page (see https://player-one-astronomy.com/product/uranus-c-usb3-0-color-camera-imx585/). If you look at the readout noise graph (about 3/4 of the way down the page - second...

Re: Re-label cameras (Show a name instead of serial number)
Hi James,
thanks for the suggestion - it's a useful idea (and I think that some brands of camera allow this sort of thing to be saved to the camera - I will have to look into that, although a solution that worked for all brands would be best).
cheers,
Robin

Re: Start-Up Tips & Tricks: LiveStack
Hi, I think it could do with being a little clearer, but the tips themselves have to be relatively short (rather than pages of text). Save RAW from live stacking saves with *NO PROCESSING* - the data that comes off the camera is what gets written to file. This allows for full reprocessing of the dat...

Re: Understanding Binning
@Han, I think you are on the right track when you are thinking of 'noise' as being the variation in brightness of a star due to random fluctuations. Actually, in that case the noise level in a star will be determined by the total number of photons captured over the area considered to be part of the ...

Ahah!
I did not notice that the top thing in the slide out panel was a drop down and allowed you to switch between console and pad!
I will see what can be done.
cheers,
Robin

Re: Getting plate solve to work with ASTAP and iPolar
Hi, looking at the latest image, there is just so much noise in the background that I am not surprised that it is difficult to plate solve. In fact I *am* surprised that anything manages it! I don't really understand the cause of the noise - very odd... It's also odd that the downloaded FITS file wi...

Re: ZWO ASI174MM (non-Mini) dropped frames
Hi Jim,
glad to hear that the update solved the problem for you. Sounds like ZWO knew that they had broken it and fixed it for the new version (even if they didn't get around to putting it in the notes for the new update).
cheers,
Robin

Re: Camera Stopped sending any images, including Live View or framing
Hi, interesting... thank you for posting a full set of logs. What I can see is that you had at least 2 or 3 spells where the mount was not responding properly to SharpCap - I am guessing this was because communications between the mount and the PC had failed somehow. This is likely the cause of the ...
