Re: Exposure & Gain

Probably best to post your whole script then so we can have a look at the whole thing.

Re: Lodestar non square pixels

Hi, I think the *biggest* effect it could have would be to make the adjustment distance out by up to the % difference in pixel ratio - ie (8.6-8.3)/8.3 =~3.6%. Running the PA routine a second time after completing the first time would show whether there was such an issue and allow you to close furth...

Re: Function for Ha solar best focus...?

Hi Maurits, you have some great images on your web page :) I'd suggest using 'Contrast (Edge) Detection' to find best solar/lunar/planetary focus - that looks for how much fine detail there is in the image which is obviously reduced by being out-of-focus. Read more info here - https://docs.sharpcap....

Re: Sensor Analysis not saved

Hi Mark,

OK, gotcha now - as you say it sounds like it is not reading the data correctly if the camera is in binning mode on startup - I will investigate.

cheers,

Re: Exposure & Gain

How about def get_EV(): exp = SharpCap.SelectedCamera.Controls.Exposure.ExposureMs/1000 if exp > 50: return str(format(exp, '.0f')) + "(s)" else: return str(exp) def btnLE_Click(self, sender, event): if SharpCap.SelectedCamera != None: self.lbl.LEv.Text = get_EV() else: SharpCap.ShowNotification('No...

Re: Sensor Analysis not saved

Hi, SharpCap saves the sensor analysis for later use in the 'Smart Histogram' function which helps you optimize your deep sky sub-exposure length based on the measured characteristics of your sensor. If you use that feature then you will see extra guide marks in the histogram header and a 'brain' bu...

Re: Lodestar non square pixels

Hi Peter, I do have a recollection of making some changes to the polar alignment to try to help deal with slightly non-square pixels, but it was long enough ago that I can't quite remember what I did :( It's certainly worth a try with the lodestar - the most likely outcome if there is going to be a ...

Re: How do I take Flats with a HyperStar?

I don't have a hyperstar myself, but if you had a dew shield on your C9.25, could you then use the t-shirt method?

cheers,

Re: Ascom driver for Nikon & Canon cameras

Just an update to say that I have been working on making SharpCap work better with this driver (and working on making some changes to the driver to make it more robust, faster, etc). With my own tweaked version of the driver (code available from https://github.com/rwg0/ASCOM.DSLR) I can now get pret...

Re: SharpCap Version 3.2.5696.0 crashes on EQMOD connection

Hi, glad the suggestion worked :) Thinking about it a bit more, I suspect that the first program that you run that uses EQMOD (perhaps a piece of planetarium software or similar) is being 'run as administrator' which means EQMOD ends up being run as admin too, which then means SharpCap needs to be t...
