Re: AVI file is too short

Hi, SharpCap doesn't really try to set up the correct playback rate when capturing to AVI files as this is typically only useful over a limited range of exposure times. If you happen to make a video where the individual frames are 2or even 5seconds or more long, it would be rather boring to watch it...

Re: error connecting celestron mount

Hi, I've certainly used Celestron mounts successfully in the past, but I haven't tested with the newer CWPI software that you mention – I wonder if anyone else has? Does anything different occur if you try not starting the CWPI software and just selecting the mount in SharpCap and choosing to connec...

Re: Touptec Mono - Dropping Frames

Hi, There have been some reductions in the stability of the older ASI cameras with the recent updates to the drivers and the SDK – particularly with the 16-bit bit depth causing problems. Most people manage to get them working with suitable adjustments to the USB cabling and the Turbo USB settings, ...

Re: PA with QHY8 L

Hi, I think this would be a struggle to get it to work, if it can be made to work at all. The problem is the longer readout time of the older QHY 8L camera would mean that it would be very slow to update. It might be usable if you try setting the binning level to perhaps 4x4 to improve the readout t...

Re: Drift graph question

Hi, I can say confidently that cone error won't produce this sort of problem – it doesn't affect tracking, its main detrimental effect is on accuracy of go to movements and alignment. When you say you get the same results with guiding as without guiding, have you checked the graphs in PHD to ensure ...

Re: Live SWtack - Save individual frames

Hi,

Yes, most of those applications will also be able to do the debayering process, although the steps required differ for each of them.

Re: Live SWtack - Save individual frames

Hi,

The individual frames from a colour camera will be in raw format, which needs to be processed in order to show the colour – see this thread for full details viewtopic.php?t=254

Re: How to report a Crash

Hi Pete, The timeout for the serial port connection and communication is coming from the Ascom driver code rather than from SharpCap, so that's where you'd have to look in order to increase the timeout. Isn't the 'connected' checkbox inside the focuser control block on the right-hand side already in...

Re: Brain and High Dynamic Range targets

Hi, The brain calculation is optimising for the faintest parts of the image – those just above or even below the brightness level of the sky background. That means that the brain's results would be the ones that you would use for the longest exposures in your HDR stack. For the brighter areas of the...

Hi,

Yes, those choices will give you correct results. I just mentioned colour cameras because the title of the thread tension is the colour version of this camera.
