Re: Polar alignment

Hi,

It's certainly worth a try. Remember that you can run the polar alignment all the way through to the stage where it tells you your alignment error without needing a licence. If that all works okay without any problems then you should be good for the full polar alignment routine.

Re: Plate Solve Sync'ing but Not Re-Centring G11GT Mount Gemini II

Well, I'm glad to hear that is working for you :-). From that log though, it still looks as though the RA axis isn't moving as it should. Maybe SharpCap is asking for the position too soon after sending the move command.

Re: Polar alignment

Hi,

It's not just the focal length but a combination of the sensor size and focal length that give you a field of view – you need the field of view to ideally be at least one degree in each direction. Half a degree or more in each direction usually works, but one degree is better.

Re: Individual Frames Saved es .png Format

Hi,

Thanks for checking that out – I did add TIFF format after the live stacking code was written, so I may need to update something in that code to account for the extra available formats.

Re: Double click problem on directions button.

Hi, Another way to test if it's iOptron related would be to configure your system to use the 'Telescope simulator for .NET' mount that is installed as part of Ascom (at least I'm fairly sure it's installed as part of the standard Ascom setup). This piece of software just pretends to be a telescope m...

Re: Sharpcap with Solar Monitor.

Hi, Yes, that should be possible – you will need to use the .Net framework classes to access the serial port rather than the native Python way of doing it. Have a look at this page which details someone else who succeeded in getting the serial ports to work using IronPython http://python.6.x6.nabble...

Re: 64 bit SC Crashes

Hi folks, I think this one is down to the processor in use - Richard seems to be using a low-power Pentium N4200 processor which doesn't have certain instruction sets like AVX available. I did think that I had the code set up to use those instructions if they are available and default back to older ...

Re: Polar alignment

Hi, SharpCap doesn't have support for DSLR cameras (although some people managed to find third-party Ascom or direct show drivers that may work). If you want polar align using a DSLR camera you may want to look into using Photo Polar Align (see this thread on Stargazers Lounge - https://stargazerslo...

Re: Double click problem on directions button.

Hi David, I just tested this and I can't make it happen on my computer. Are you by any chance using some sort of remote control application to take control of the PC running SharpCap from either another PC or a tablet or phone? I have seen some people have problems with those buttons when using a re...

Re: Individual Frames Saved es .png Format

Hi,

Look in the first page of the SharpCap settings and change your preferred still file format from PNG to TIF - I think that should do the trick.
