Re: M27 Dumbbell Nebula, Vixen 81s + Altair 183C

Hi Dave, Good shot I hate this time of year due to the non existent sunrise / sunset good image though I might have to get out and have a go at something using narrowband it's just so late in the evening / morning before you can potentially start capturing. So have been spending my time modifying th...

Re: Auto focus go to best position overshoot amount

Hi Robin, I did not buy any new kit it must of been someone else as  , I have made a geared drive for the rack and pinion focuser as the 10:1 reduction always appears to have a small amount of slippage randomly which is why I converted it to a 25:1 reduction gearbox between the Sesto and the ...

Re: Auto focus go to best position overshoot amount

Cheers Robin,
Sounds fine I usually start more than 200 away so all should be good, if you could just make it dark earlier and the sun come up later + remove the clouds then everything would be great. :D

Thanks

Auto focus go to best position overshoot amount

Hi, I have read the manual in regard to the best focus position and I know that it will go out and come back in if I was focusing from an inward direction. Does anyone know what the overshoot amount is as the backlash on my focuser is 50 microns which equates to 200 steps on the focus motor. Cheers ...

Re: Bahtinov Mask and Display Histogram Stretch

I have had the issue with the red colouration it is the mask in Sharpcap what I usually have to do is use the FWHM focus tool so that I can resize the selection box/mask. If I then swap to the bahtinov focus assistant I can then resize the selection area, if I just go straight to the bahtinov focus ...

Re: My Messier Journey So Far

Going well then good luck with the remainder, I really should capture more of the messier objects. Not done much lately as it is not dark until nearly twelve also currently the weather has been awful so actually seeing something other than clouds would be nice.

Cheers
Nick
