Re: Another M51

Nice shot of M51 I tend to dither a little more often now perhaps every 3 - 4 frames since Robin made the alteration to SharpCap to reduce the exposure time by doing this you lose hardly any imaging time, the only thing I do set is to reject on brightness in the live stack and set the threshold at 5...

Re: Computer Crash while taking Dark Frames

Hi Robin not sure if it is related but lately whilst live stacking Sharpcap will crash on me intermittently with an out of memory error usually whilst I am adjusting the image histogram for some reason, I can report this in a different thread if you want and add the error log assuming something has ...

Nice definition I think the images are more striking with partial shots as the contrast tends to be better in a few years you may even be able to see lights on the surface if we ever go back :D

Re: Markarian's Chain

Thanks for the comments hopefully no quality control issues with the one I have it has had a good test when I originally had it as I spent three days straight taking dark frames to build a library that I am still expanding and it never missed a beat so hopefully no gremlins to come. Chris, I will lo...

Re: M101 Galaxy

Thanks for all the comments, at this point I am thinking of not using a light pollution filter as it does not appear to be overly causing an issue at the moment but will need to try a few more targets in different conditions. Chris, I have run the sensor analysis which is were the 20s came from actu...

Markarian's Chain

Miracles never cease this is the integration from the second night as we had two evenings in a row that had no cloud and low winds, this time went with 90s 200g after the previous evening and the amount of time it takes to stack 400 frames in APP so a lower frame count this time only 165 taken and o...

Re: M101 Galaxy

Hi Dave,
Might well try that some time it would be interesting to see the difference, meant to also say in the write up this was without any light pollution filter in use so literally just telescope / camera so have added a note to the original post.

Cheers

M101 Galaxy

Got another evening out in the observatory looking up at the heavens so had ago at M101 with the ASI2600 used the brain function and set the camera at the nearest to a calibration set I had so 200g / 20s exposures. Will probably not do that again as we captured 540 exposures and then used the best 7...

Re: M51 & M13, Vixen 81s+Atik314E, LRGB

Hi Dave, Nice shots and as always masses of extra information about capture / processing all you are missing is what you had for lunch :D , also I assume at that payload it is a reasonably portable setup. I did some work on mine recently and was pleased to get the scope + accessories down to 14.5kg ...

Re: Messier Marathon 2020

Chris, Nice shots especially considering the short exposure times for each, clouds should be banned as they really make the hobby awkward. I really should do more of the messier objects but am not really a fan of the globular clusters as they are not that large in the view from my telescope although...
