Re: Defective pixel removal

Yes, people who want to see faint, single pixel stars have to be very careful to distinguish them from hot pixels, so will use pixel maps, dark frames etc with post-processing. But sometimes we just want to see things in real time. The increasing popularity of live stacking software like Atik Infini...

Re: Live Stack With Planetary Images

I think you can already do it if you switch off "Align frames", and as Robin says if your computer is fast enough and your frame rate slow enough. It is useful for non-astronomical imaging to see the image build up in real time, but then my frame rates are much less than 30fps and my FOV is steady. ...

Re: Defective pixel removal

I think Roel (and I) would like to see "real time" hot pixel removal, without the need for dark frame or hot pixel maps. This might be done by using the code you already have for hot pixel filtering in dark frames and having it as an option to apply to each image frame in real time. I guess even sta...

Re: SharpCap 3.2 Beta now available

Hi Robin. Thanks for the v3.2.5678 update. Actually I suspect that the bit order is now wrong, and that it was already correct in v3.2.5664 :-) Previously the hot pixels (and amp glow) were at low light levels, but now in v3.2.5678 they are ahown at discrete high light levels (?) I have posted 4s 0-...

Re: Understanding Binning

Thanks Robin. These things happen. Glad that you found it. Cheers, Alan.

Re: SharpCap V3.2.5664 takes double time for exposures

Yes. I discovered that just after I posted and then lost my internet. Must be the heat :-). I haven't seen any other app read the lodestar like that though (PHD, Nebulosity, Starlight Live). Thanks, Alan.

SharpCap V3.2.5664 takes double time for exposures

I only noticed this when I took exposures of a few seconds with my lodestar. SharpCap has a green frame capture progression bar at the bottom right. Curiously, if I set exposures of say 5 seconds. I can see the green bar reaching its maximum after 5 seconds, but then there is another 5 seconds befor...

Re: Understanding Binning

I have run the SharpCap Sensor Analysis on both my FLIR CMOS IMX249 and Lodestar-X2 CCD ICX829 cameras, and posted the results on: http://neutronoptics.com/resources/IMX249-Sensor-Analysis.jpg http://neutronoptics.com/resources/ICX829-Sensor-Analysis.jpg I did each analysis twice, and found similar ...

Re: Understanding Binning

I have been trying to follow the calculation of dark current using the SharpCap method. As I understand it, you average the mean count per pixel (ADU) for four different exposure times, plot them and extrapolate to obtain the ADU for zero time (-> read noise) with the slope giving the ADU/second inc...
