Thanks Robin,
I'll completely uninstall ASTAP and reinstall it.
Clear skies,

Looading ASTAP database
Hello, I'm trying to set up ASTAP, and I downloaded the D50 database for in the ASTAP directory. In the configuration tab, Sharpcap asks for the path to the database, and there are two options where it looks for it automatically and manually. In both modes it finds (or I direct it manually) to the f...

QHY168c Digital Gain Question
I have a QHY 168c, and I'm trying to determine which value I should use for the digital gain. In reading some of the forums, Dr. Glover states that it should not be used while imaging and is only meant as a tool to find stars. By not using it, I would assume that its value should be set to "1&q...

Re: Dumb question about a 32 bit image file
Thanks Robin,
Your reply helped a lot. I was able to convert the 32-bit images into 16-bit and view / process them in SharpCap with Deep Sky Stacker. Saving in 16-bit always works, so I'll be more careful to save them in that format.

Dumb question about a 32 bit image file
Hello, In my last observing session, I went and saved my live stacked image as a raw 32 bit image and when I went to view it at a later time, I got a big mess: The camera that I'm using is a QHY168c with a 14bit ADC. I guess that I should store it as a 16-bit which always works fine, but I didn't pa...

Hi Robin,
Changing the mode to 16 bit fixed the problem.
Many thanks!

Sensor analysis data file transfer
Hi, I am installing a new copy of SharpCap on a new computer and I wanted to transfer over my Sensor Analysis file to the new computer. I copied the file from the old C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\SharpCap\SensorCharacteristics folder (it has a *.json suffix) to the same directory on the new c...

Re: CPU load when stacking images
Thanks Robin, I'm basically trying to figure out whether a Celeron N-5095 processor will have the capacity to work well with SharpCap for doing deep sky imaging. The advantage of using a processor like this is that it is rather inexpensive, and dissipates a modest amount of power which is advantageo...

CPU load when stacking images
I was asked general question about the loading of the computer's CPU as one accumulates images during a live stack: When one does live stacking for EAA, and a new image comes in, I know it will calibrate that image… But then does it just add that one image to the existing stacked image? Or does it h...

Re: QHY168c Gain Scaling question
Thanks Robin!
This makes a lot more sense. I'll give it a try this tonight and see how the camera behaves. I've been keeping the digital gain at 100 and it may explain why the colors of my stars always seem to be washed out.
