Re: plate solving

Hi Robin, what was the problem you found using stellarium scope? Trying to figure out if it's worth the effort. Cheers. I got my Celestron setup working with Stellarium Scope. First, you need ASCOM drivers for your mount. Then install and start up StellariumScope and connect it to your mount. In St...

There's a user on Cloudynights who posted his opensource ASCOM project for Nikon and Canon DSLRs:

Re: I can't install my license! Help!

I don't know if this would help or not but on another program, I used to add the line "-platform windows:dpiawareness=0" to the shortcut Target block (right click the shortcut, select Properties). So in the Sharpcap shortcut, try adding a space after the .exe and then add "-platform w...

Re: Alt drifts when making az adjustments and vice versa

I experience this as well with my AVX. For me the solution was to adjust until one reading is about half the other and then switch. So for example, if Alt and Az both showed 4, I would adjust Alt to 2 and then adjust Az and repeat as necessary. If the were vastly different, for example, Alt 8 and Az...

Re: Lagoon Nebula in a 12" Dob

Just to clarify, it's BIn 2, so the arcsec/pixel is 1.218. I also have a coma corrector on there which makes the f/ratio 5.1. I updated the original post.

Filter Wheel Profiles

I have a couple of filter wheel carousels with different filters in them. It'd be nice to have a profile selector like you have with the cameras to allow me to quickly select a different carousel (e.g. narrowband, rgb, 2" filters) rather than having to edit them each time.

Re: filter wheel

I would be thrilled to discover that each wheel can uniquely identify itself to ASCOM simply by plugging in the USB cable, and then using that information to inform SharpCap that filter #1 is Luminance on wheel A, and filter #1 is Hydrogen-Alpha on wheel B, and filter #1 is Johnson/Cousins "V&...

Re: conflict with computer

How long is the usb cable you're using from the hub to the computer? Have you tried different ports on the computer and the hub? Have you tried it through the hub with nothing else attached but the camera? If it works through the hub with nothing else attached, start hooking things up until it fails...

Re: Plans for SharpCap 3.2

Hi Davy, one SharpCap can only run one camera, but you can run SharpCap twice without any problems. cheers, Robin Can they both be the same version? So just double click it again and it will bring up another instance? If I remember correctly, in the past it had to be two different major releases (e...
