Re: Saving of live stacked images
Hi Robin, I usually do use much longer exposures, if for no other reason than the min exposure results in too many files and a ridiculously long post processing time. I wanted to try a much larger number of short exposures for the same overall exposure time to see if the noise was reduced. I'll have...

Re: Saving of live stacked images
Hi Jolo, I could try some third party tool like that, but it's really an inconvenient cludge. Much better if SharpCap could simply put the files in one directory. Of course I could do longer subframes, but what I'm trying to do is potentially stack a thousand or more frames to drive down the noise. ...

Saving of live stacked images
Hi, Given my ASI2600 has very low read noise and ignorable dark noise, and that I image in a Bortle 2 site, my optimal sub-frame length is only 4 seconds. The main problem with this is of course if I were to image for an hour or so, I get an impractical number of frames occupying a humungous amount ...

Re: SharpCap 4.0 Beta Now Available
Hi Robin - Thanks for replying. I'm not using the old ASCOM HUB. ASCOM Device Hub is just like an ASCOM app I believe. Celestron telescope can accept multiple connections. I could have used PHD2 or Stellarium instead. The newest version didn't seem to have the problem anyway, but if I get a little t...

Re: SharpCap 4.0 Beta Now Available
Hi, Just upgraded to 4.0.7888.0. This version appears to require exclusive access to both the ASCOM telescope and focuser. If for instance I connect these in ASCOM Device Hub, they will not connect in Sharpcap. The reverse is also true. I'm not sure if it matters, but I'm using the Celestron.Telesco...

Correct Exposure
Hi Robin, Your tutorial"Picking the correct exposure for Deep Sky" is very interesting and informative. Essentially as you explain, the correct exposure is primarily dependent on read noise and sky background brightness. I wonder if you could answer a couple of questions? 1-Obviously when ...

Focuser controls gray out
Hi, Sometimes when focusing using the focus tool, the two "In" and "Out" buttons become grayed out and inoperative as shown. SharpCapFocuserIssue.PNG The step size controls still work, so it's not like the focus window is crashed. I think this may occur when I press the "In&...
