Re: Atik One 6.0 now bogging sharpcap to crawl

Robin, i still have both 'original' versions of each on another laptop in my obs. I will check the Atik driver version. It works without issue on that. It could be the Atik Ascom driver. I read today they have been playing with it since March due to the release of Dusk which is an update of Artemis....

Atik One 6.0 now bogging sharpcap to crawl

Robin, Not sure what has changed as probably done a few updates since i last used the Atik with Sharpcap. I use to polar align on a portable mount. It worked fine before but now the controls take an absolute age to respond. I am guessing its related to the looping/downloading. Reducing the frame rat...

Re: My first live stacks.

Not wishing to start a lengthy debate suffice it to say everyone has there own opinions and are entitled to them I am just trying to say that simply stating long exposures and CCD are better is not that scientific, also thanks for the astrobin links Cmos 183 images 8 pages worth CCD 694 images 9 pa...

Re: My first live stacks.

An F2 RASA x 17.5 hrs.

Each f stop is a factor of 2 increase.

F2, f2.8, f4, f5.6

F2 x 50s is equal to a long exposure at f5.6

The noted data for Ha is 150s.

This example is demonstrating the benefits of equivalent long exposures.

Re: My first live stacks.

Your CCD has a deep well, that is an big advantage that permits longer exposures. I dont think very short ones will work well but give it a try. Your Histogram should dictate your exposure length. As long as you can without clipping. All I will add is search Astrobins for cup winners or images that ...

Re: My first live stacks.

1600mm Rob, but thats at F8 , that gives 0.77” pixel which is OK, but slow. With the reducer gives F6 ish around 1200mm or just over 1” pixel, great from nebulae etc The CMOS gives 0.8” pixel at F4 , which is why id like to get it working good, no wasted FOV on galaxies and planetary nebs, ideal re...

Re: My first live stacks.

Andy,

What is the focal length of your scope (without the 0.75 reducer). ?

Unless short the pixels resolution should be fine at 6.

You will more likely be limited by seeing conditions than pixel resolution.

Re: No alignment found!

Your Astro computer or laptop should not be used for anything other than that single purpose. Unless required for remote access it should not be connected to the internet. Experienced imagers keep to this basic rule for good reason. What would the head of NASA say if an employee was caught surfing t...
