Re: How to Estimate a Settings Range for Eclipse

Wow! That's a lot of settings and pretty much covers the waterfront. Makes sense though. Thanks for the tip about the Ha filter. I guess I will remove it entirely since I can't achieve focus with my reducer if I use my filter wheel

How to Estimate a Settings Range for Eclipse

This is just a general question about how to estimate a good range of exposure/gain settings to use during totality. The sequence generator for the eclipse is a great tool, but I need to put in an appropriate range of settings to use during totality (e.g. 0.01 to 0.1 sec or .0001 to .001 or whatever...

Re: Sharpcap mount control

Not sure exactly how you are set up, but I have an HEQ5 mount and had a lot of trouble connecting until I got this cable adapter: https://www.skywatcherusa.com/products/synscan-usb-adapter Things work perfectly now. Robin is also correct that you have to connect to Synscan Pro first and then connect...

Nifty Way to Star Align Skywatcher Mounts

Hello All, This may be old news to most of you but just in case there are those out there who are slower to find out about things than me, I would like to let everyone know about a nifty Sharpcap script that I discovered recently that will automatically star align Skywatcher mounts in a manner simil...

Re: ZWO 1600MM Issues

That would be my guess. Do you have the box "Automatically restore last used camera settings" under the General tab, unchecked. If so, check it to save your settings.

Re: ZWO 1600MM Issues

YEAH!! Worked! Nice piece of information that I didn't know about. Will definitely store that bit knowledge away in case something like this comes up again. Thanks a bunch!

ZWO 1600MM Issues

Hello All, I have been using a ZWO 1600MM pro cooled camera and lately it will not display images. Sharpcap picks it up fine and I can turn the cooler on and off and the aux USB ports work fine. Sharpcap also indicates that frames are being taken. All I get, however, is a black screen even when I sh...

Re: Stored Focuser Positions

Have you tried the new plate solver routine in Sharpcap? You don't have to know the focal length in order to use it and as long as you have a FOV of 0.5 degrees (0.25 degrees with additional star data) you should have no trouble doing a successful plate solve. Also, I think you will find that Sharpc...

Re: Stored Focuser Positions

Not sure what you mean by changing the focal length since that is a fixed number which is characteristic of your telescope. In answer to your question, I will assume that you want to do an autofocus after you get near to your desired focuser position. In that case, assuming that your nominal focus p...

Re: Stored Focuser Positions

Another thing you could do is use the sequencer to make a simple script like: SEQUENCE FOCUSER MOVE TO 12345 END SEQUENCE You would create a number of similar scripts, one for each optical setup, and name them appropriately (e.g ASI678+barlow). Then when you change the optics you simply go to the se...
