Re: Color absent in solar flares- assistance requested

I used to be able to get color images instantly in Pixinsight just by opening a raw file- no debayering needed (up until today) Post, on the internet, an example light frame 'with no debayering needed', together with the Sharpcap capture file and a brief description of the software used/method to p...

Re: field rotation, live stacking

Are flats being used? If so, there would be an impact?

Re: Color absent in solar flares- assistance requested

You need to debayer the file first. In PixInsight Process > ColorSpaces > Debayer Once the image is in colour then Process > IdentityTransformations > CurvesTransformation (to taste) Dave Sun-debayer.JPG These are the additional entries added to the FITS header by PixInsight. On my system the conver...

Re: Solar Eclipse Resources

Another link to eclipse imaging with useful background info, including exposure and ISO settings for various stages, at Roger Clark's site: https://clarkvision.com/articles/photograph-the-sun/ Roger's plan on eclipse day is to use 5 DSLR cameras on trackers. Note the use of bracket sequences. Dave

Re: Webcam with exposure longer than 1s?

Jakub I achieved these lunar mosaics with a Sweex webcam https://forums.sharpcap.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=736&hilit=sweex . I took out the front lens, added webcam adapter (eBay) and an IR filter. The 10-panel mosaic came out well given the cost of the hardware. I also adapted a Microsoft Lifecam (...

Re: M42 chronicles

Brian Thanks for the comments. I agree with you that Bortle 6 brings its limits for longer exposures. I will try for a larger integration time with 120s exposures. The AVX mount I have now will cope better than the CG5 did. It might be too late in the year now as Orion heads towards the Manchester s...

Menno

Good image of a difficult target + an interesting write-up.

Re: M42 chronicles

Looking again at post #42. PixInsight 1.8.9-2 build 1601 released 1st March 2024 has a new process called GradientCorrection . A one-click action provided the following improvement to a heavily light pollution affected wide field image of Orion. Note the gradient removal and the improved histogram s...

Re: Saving as a Video

Terry looks like these days you can only download about forty frames I split a SER file into 501 FITS files using PIPP, then loaded and combined the 501 individual files into a SER file using PIPP x64 ver 2.5.9. I have never come across a 40 limit - maybe PIPP 32-bit? Capture.JPG There is no need fo...
