Re: Plate solving?

Thanks, Robin!

Well, it is all about FOV, however one centers, isn't it? :-)

Which indexes did you have in mind for this? :

Plate solving?

I'll be upgrading my guide camera shortly, and this will free up my GPCAM2 IMX224 for planetary work w/Sharpcap, as opposed to BYN + D5300, which I've been using on DSO's. One of the things I use on every DSO session with BYN is the plate solving integration w/Astrotortilla. Very nice, both for find...

Re: Sharpcap + Sparkocam + Nikon D5300?

LuckyMan, Sorry, I posted all I had on that, and then moved on - I just had SparkoCam on a trial. I did try something related, though, just for fun. Robin brought out a "File Monitor camera" feature a while back. Sharpcap can poll a folder for new pictures. I created a dedicated folder for...

Re: Yet another guidescope question

Andy,

Thanks! So, just to be clear - Portrait/vertical orientation at the start, and then rotate to landscape/horizontal orientation to finish?

Yet another guidescope question

Robin, I'm looking at getting a longer-FL guidescope, but do not want to compromise my Sharpcap PA, which has been working fine. I'm looking at new guidescopes in the 60/F4/240mm class, and combined with my current Altair camera, Astronomy.tools tells me that the chip will see a FOV of 1.14 x 0.86 d...

Re: Using astrtortilla and BYEOS

I use BackYard Nikon + NikonD5300, with Astrotortilla. BYN = BYE for Nikon. Works fine, but in my setup AT is a separate, new installation, nothing to do with Sharpcap. Sharpcap runs my Altair, and BYN runs my DSLR. I figured that sharing AT would create an interdependency that neither developer wou...

Re: Tripod spreader shift affects PA, PHD2

Oh, no - not high at all. The arcs cut into the arms of the eyepiece tray are closer to a V than a circle, so the actual points of contact are small as well as very hard, and if one leg shifts, the pressure on the other two changes... The tubing is a crude fix, but the added friction and increased c...

Tripod spreader shift affects PA, PHD2

All, The Polar Alignment troubleshooting notes list some sources of mechanical movement that can affect Sharpcap's PA. I have another for the list, and it turned up post-PA and while guiding: My tripod spreader was shifting against the legs while the scope was in use. Scenario: - Perform Sharpcap PA...

Re: DSLR Camera

I've done a Polar Alignment with my D5300, using the file monitor camera. - I created a folder dedicated to Sharpcap PA - Started Sharpcap w/ the file monitor camera, pointed at that shared folder - Configured BackYard Nikon to take jpgs and use that shared folder - Set up a series of 50 or so short...

Re: Folder Monitor Camera error

Robin,

I renewed my license (no more restriction), and that fixed the error. Haven't had time to actually *use* the monitor feature yet, but the Monitor 'camera' now starts w/o error.

Thx!
