Re: Saving of live stacked images
Hi Steve, Have you tried some advanced copy tools, where you can filter what files to copy and put them into a single folder? I think copywhiz may do the trick https://www.conceptworld.com/blog/index.php/selective-file-copy-in-windows-using-copywhiz/ Also, you are not limited to 4s subframes, as thi...

Re: Celestron Focuser doesn’t publish FWHM readings
Ok, my mistake, apparently FWHM in SC is directly presented in pixels. So with your scale, it translates to 5-7" FWHM, which is quite a large value. I would start by trying to estimate FWHM manually and try to focus manually as well. sc-fwhm.JPG So once you have a live view of the sky open Mult...

Re: Celestron Focuser doesn’t publish FWHM readings
What is the field of view and pixel scale of your setup? In my opinion, the SharpCap algorithm may not be able to calculate the correct FWHM of the stars - there may be several reasons for that. There may be too few stars in the field of view, or stars are too faint, or too distorted. Have you enter...

Re: Dust Subtraction
If that is really a dust donut you may calculate the distance of the dust from the sensor using for example this calculator

Re: Pegasus Astro - NYX-101 Harmonic Gear Mount
Hi Jim,
As far as I know, SharpCap supports every mount that provides an ASCOM driver.

Re: First EAA images from 90mm scope
Thanks, Tim! There are also mostly clouds at my location at this time of the year, so a quick EAA session is very helpful for health :) One more stack captured with SharpCap and processed in Pix - Double Cluster in Perseus - 80x8 seconds at gain 150, with darks and flats. Full frame 50% resized, and...

Re: Understanding Binning
I have once come to the same conclusion. Hardware binning reduces read noise, but hardware binning is not available in CMOS sensors. And anyway, the read noise in CMOS cameras is low compared to other noise sources (or at least we should adjust other parameters to keep read noise insignificant). So ...

Re: An error has occurred while writing RAW frames
Hi John,
Is your SharpCap destination folder on the disk you have 166GB of free space? (I know it may be a stupid question, but once I put the SC writing folder into the wrong drive)

Re: Comet C2022 e3 photography question
Hi Charles, Comet C2022 E3 currently is moving at 3.2 arcmin per hour, so 3.2 arcsec per minute. If you go for 1-minute exposure with comet tracking your stars will be 3.2 arc sec elongated. The 30s exposure will give half of that. Depending on your local seeing and setup pixel scale you should be a...
