Re: I'm trying to use SharpCap Live View to focus ASI224MC

Hi, Set the exposure for about 4s, maximum gain, you should then have a good chance of seeing trails of brighter stars as the telescope moves around. FPS is really irrelevant in this case, since with 4s exposures you will get 1 frame every 4 seconds! cheers, Robin Thank you Robin! That is exactly t...

Re: I'm trying to use SharpCap Live View to focus ASI224MC

Hi, tricky one, since the 224MC has a very small field of view when used with an SCT and the SCT has a very wide range of focus adjustments. I would suggest starting with the moon - it's big, it's bright and if you are anywhere near it the camera will either see it or the glow around it. Get the mo...

I'm trying to use SharpCap Live View to focus ASI224MC

Hi,

I'm trying to figure out how to real-time focus my asi224mc on my Celestron Nexstar Evolution 9.25" SCT using SharpCap.

I'm trying to perform some DSO with it but I can't even see the telescope moving in the image.

Any suggestions?

Thank you,

Reif

Error converting .fits file to .tiff file in PIPP

Hi,

When I try to use PIPP to convert a .fits file to a .tiff file, I get the following error message:
Pipp_ERROR.png
Pipp_ERROR.png (21.08 KiB) Viewed 7868 times
The .fits files were generated in SharpCap from snapshots from my Canon EOS 7D.

If needed, I can send you the .fits file.

Thank yo for your help,

Reif Heck

Re: Do I need to use live video to take lunar images with my canon eos dslr?

Thank you Robin!

I am saving up for a real astro camera.

Once I get it, I'll try again.

Thanks again,

Reif

Re: Noisy Snapshots when using Canon DSLR in SharpCap

Hi, as far as I know you cannot select mono in the ASCOM.DSLR driver. One thing you can try (if you are just looking at the image) is to select 'Reduce Noise (Median Blur,3x3)' from the Display FX dropdown in the toolbar. This should reduce the noise as seen on screen in SharpCap a fair bit, but wi...
