Re: Gradient with and without calibration frames under full moon

Thank you Robin. Rookie mistake. However, what’s also going on is that the flats are overcompensating for vignetting, which seems to be a fairly common problem. You tackled it in a recent thread and it’s been discussed elsewhere. I’m still reviewing the exchanges as it’s not clear at all to me how ...

Here is a link to download the files. Yes, a stronger stretch might explain it. Why would it be stronger with calibration applied? I just blindly alternate clicking Auto Stretch and Auto Color Balance ...

Gradient with and without calibration frames under full moon

When I stack DSO raw frames obtained under a nearly full moon, the gradient and amp glow are quite more noticeable if I use dark and flat frames vs. stacking without them. This is both with and without linear gradient removal. Any logical explanation?

Re: Using MetaGuide with SharpCap 4

Hi Robin,

Any updates on the inclusion of Metaguide as a guiding option, in addition to PHD2 and Lacerta?

Thanks!

Following up on what I just sent, the stacking was done without applying a flat. This is the one I've been using. With both dark and flat applied, I get a similar result as with dark only (what I previously sent). With flat and no dark, the stacked image ...

Hi there, this should have the dark, the flat, five raw frames, and the log, as well as the resulting stacked image. Thanks Robin.

Re: New Feature : Dark Frame Scaling

Hi Robin,

I'm afraid the new feature might be making a mess with my live stacking with dark subtraction. I tried two different sets of raw frames and two different darks, and I'm getting the same weird results, as if it's turning the image negative (the nebula appears dark) and the colors all off ...

Virtual Folder Monitor Camera Colour Space

Hi there, I've been shooting with a Zwo ASI294MC Pro, using SharpCap 4.1.11799, Colour Space RAW16, most camera settings set to default. I've ran into problems with weird colors and gradients (more on this later), and trying to troubleshoot this, I restacked the raw frames using the virtual folder ...

Enhancements reflected in stack?

I understand that histogram and colour adjustments are reflected in the image saved with the "Save with Adjustments" option, but not with "Save as 16 Bit Stack"; what about Gaussian blur and deconvolution?

Can deconvolution actually worsen the image, under default settings?

TIA for clarifying
