Re: Senor Analysis
I think you are right about the 'urban myths' Robin, and there are plenty of them, probably started by so called "self appointed experts". :D Having spent a 40 year career in Telecommunications, with the last 20 years in R&D, my inquisitive mind does like to understand what I am dealin...

Re: Senor Analysis
Hi Robin, intelligent software :) I have another question, if I may The analysis of the the 294c gives a e/ADU of 1.68 at gain 100, and an e/ADU of 0.95 at gain 177. If may maths is still working (I have been retired for 19 years ;) ), by interpolation I calculate that unity gain (1.0) is at gain se...

Senor Analysis
When carrying out a Sensor Analysis within Sharpcap. Should I set the camera gain, and black level setting to 100 and 0 respectively, then adjust the intensity of the light source to give the recommended Histogram level for an exposure of 0.5 to 2 seconds. Or, should I set the gain and black level s...

Re: Plate solve problem
Hi again Robin
All sorted. It was that I hadn't changed the Focal Length after including the 0.8x reducer in the 'line up'
It is the Atrotortilla 'tool' that I am using.
Many thanks for your help.

Re: Plate solve problem
Hi Robin Not sure about which 'tool', Astap or Astrotortlla, but it will be whatever came with All Sky Plate Solver, and or Sharpcap Pro. The change in Focal Length, I did not enter, nor think about. A silly mistake, but blame that on a "senior moment" When the sky next allows it, I...

Plate solve problem
I'm sure it isn't a 'bug' but it is an issue that cropped up during last nights imaging session. My scope is a 115mm f/7 APO, and the camera 294c. When I used Plate Solve before, it worked fine, but I have now added a 0.8x reducer, taking the down from f/7 805mm to f/5.6 640mm. Now when I now run Pl...

Re: Settings in Sharpcap Pro
Hi Robin Thank you for taking the time to write such a comprehensive reply, it is much appreciated, and I now have better understanding of what the numbers in Sharpcap mean. Clearly the astro camera manufacturing industry, needs some standardisation, which would make life much easier for software de...

Settings in Sharpcap Pro
Having just returned to Astro Imaging, after being out of the hobby for eight years, I find that things have moved on with both hardware and software. After 12 years of imaging with a variety of Starlight Xpress CCD cameras, CMOS now seems the be the defacto standard, and introduced the need to set ...
