Re: Polar Alignment scope

Just a bit OT here but... Any PA error introduces field rotation of consecutive images. When you view consecutive images you'll see the image rotate around the center. The rate of rotation is totally independent of the focal length. The amount of rotation depends on where in the sky the camera is ai...

Re: Future Versions of Sharpcap

"... any new feature lined up that would that are big enough to justify ..." I think there might be a big camp of users who consider the large package of new features you've produced to represent a justification for a version change and a documentation catch-up period. My software developm...

Re: Retroactive Capture

I think this is akin to Apples "Live Photo" option. Right?

There might be some borrow-worthy insights in this video.

Re: Canon EOS 500D - image transfer time too slow

Roberto, You didn't specify how long your exposures are -- only the delay time. If you have the LENR (long exposure noise reduction) feature turned on and you're taking 15-second exposures, you have to wait another 15 seconds after the shutter closes. That's because the camera is capturing a dark fr...

Re: BYEOS DSLR Support

Robin, I think the O'Telescope format for BYEOS, et. al. has existed for a while. The sponsorship dominated the software. I'm totally stumped on what happened to the software line. Boredom? Family? Illness? Death? Money? Love? It seems totally derelict. The support page has a few user posts but no s...

Re: BYEOS DSLR Support

"... will not be adding direct support for any DSLR cameras to SharpCap in the future..." Hmmm, "direct", huh? So you're saying there's a chance? I had the similar interest in using SC with DSLRS. The disappointing progression of ASCOM.DSLR is discouraging. Is the API for BYEOS p...

Re: Scope Contols - Connect to POTH sometimes not completing, or position updates stop

Bob, If you're eager for the best ASCOM behavior, you're best off to ditch the ancient, effectively derelict POTH for the newer Device Hub tool. The Device Hub is supplied with ASCOM 6.6. Also, if the objective is multiple, simultaneous PC-to-mount connections, encourage the driver writers to build ...

Re: Mineral Moon - attempt 2

"...Microsoft Image Composite Editor stitching results in the greenish images..." When I saw this I did a double-take. Then raised an eyebrow. I've been using ICE all the was back when it was supported by Microsoft. I never noticed the green tint. And it's not subtle. I used this stock pho...

Re: Bayer Pattern Flip Both

"...try all the patterns..."

Doesn't that beg a feature to sequentially capture images with different debayer patterns until the user presses the "I SEE RED" button?

(Asking for someone who doesn't need to write the code.)

Re: Sharpcap Pro on pc stick

I have that same PC. I've only used it for general, mostly non-astro purposes (thanks to terrible weather). But I plan to deploy it as a ride-along controller for a tracker with a DSLR. Overall, it seems to have faster network and storage response compared to my older mini-pcs. It seems very brisk. ...
