Re: How to get beyond USB cable problems

Can we set up this remote desktop via WiFi only? Yes. If the laptop outside can see your home wireless network then the PC inside will be able connect to the laptop via Remote Desktop. The laptop would need to be running a Professional (rather than Home) version of Windows. I have also managed remo...

Re: Cooling camera during sensor analysis

Great, thanks! I am a beginner and working on some shots I took in Pixinsight. They are H-alpha narrowband subs at 90sec with a low gain of 70. Brightness was pretty low too. This is with ASI1600. The filters are 5nm Astrodons. I am getting some gradient and when I really think about it and look at ...

Cooling camera during sensor analysis

Should we be cooling our CMOS cameras for this to match anticipated temps or does it not matter for the analysis? Also should this be done for every filter? I am in the middle of running an analysis using my Ha filter.

Re: Reading the Excel version of Histogram

OK thanks. Only a few of my last rows are zero. The rest are close though. I read somewhere that 0.2 exposure times for flats is basically the limit for this camera. I could be wrong. If true that would make sense in relation to the graph numbers. I am going to try lowering brightness and lengthenin...

Reading the Excel version of Histogram

I am trying to dial in my flats for ASI1600mm-c pro. Things appeared to work well and I think banding issues are related to the light source and diffusion method (iPad and white dress shirt). I am trying to see what the histogram was doing at the time. All I can remember was reading that the exposur...

Re: How to get beyond USB cable problems

Can we set up this remote desktop via WiFi only? My plan would be to leave the laptop outside and then just control the laptop via Remote Desktop from my Desktop PC. Running ethernet is fine but WiFi would be more convenient. Setting up networks is completely alien to me, but it seems like it would ...

Why does Create Flats make separate files?

Maybe I am not remembering settings, but following the create Darks script gave me a final stacked Dark master. Doing it with Flats script gave me only separate files. Is this normal? Goal is to take care of the flats with dark-flats. Better to stack two sets rather than two masters?

Re: Overcorrecting Flats

I have the same camera and ran into the same issue. Like a reverse vignette and dust mote worse than raw lights. I had Preprocessing done with flats and then applied darks in DSS I took with Sharpcap. Looks like just make own separate library and don't Preprocessing for night time deep sky. This met...

Re: Make Flat-darks?

So the next step would be to integrate those into the flats (or darks?) and then use that for dark Preprocessing? Trying to develop a workflow here for this camera. Sharpcap is working well for Lights but I am a beginner and have an entire other acquisition half to figure out.

Make Flat-darks?

How can I do this for a complete Preprocessing flow for my ASI1600MM-Pro? This camera doesn't use Bias frames. I only see options for darks flats and bias.
