Re: Windows crashes giving "Blue Window"
Robin - You were exactly right! The QHYCCD.dll file in the Firecapture folder was dated "13-Jan-22 10:58PM" (i.e. 2 days ago), and the camera functions in Firecapture. But the QHYCCD.dll file in the SharpCap folder was dated "23-Oct-21 8:38 PM", i.e. nearly 3 months older. I copi...

Re: Windows crashes giving "Blue Window"
Thank you very much, Robin. Your suspicion about the QHY driver makes good sense. I attempted to operate the QHY600M by using FireCapture, and it worked. Images arrived with the full frame (9400x6500) at 1 fps. (That's as fast a frame rate as I ever got from SharpCap.) Going back to SharpCap, it sti...

Windows crashes giving "Blue Window"
I'm running windows 10 on a fast, modern PC with 4 TB storage. I operate a QHY600M with 1 second exposures, full frame (9400x6500). It worked fine for 6 months. I downloaded the latest SharpCap v4.08564 64-bit, and I downloaded the latest QHY600 driver. Now, with the new SharpCap, Windows crashes ev...

Re: SharpCap and QHY600M: Optimal Gain Setting
An update on using QHY600M and SharpCap for photometry: I use a QHY600M camera (16-bit) to take images that enable photometry. 1. I check that box about “Save 10/12/14 bit images in FITS files without scaling . . ." (I'm unsure if this avoids ADU scaling, to permit photometry.) 2. I set "M...

Re: Photometry
I use a QHY600M camera (16-bit) to take images that enable photometry. 1. I check that box about “Save 10/12/14 bit images in FITS files without scaling . . ." 2. I set "MONO16". 3. I set gamma, brightness, and contrast to (1.0, 0.0, 0.0), because Robin states it avoids stretching. 4....

Re: Photometry
Thanks. I tried checking that box, but it didn't help. The histogram of ADU values were still stretched. But I will try again, using a different Gain setting.

Photometry
Using a QHY600M (16-bit) camera, I'm trying to do photometry using SharpCap with Gain=0 and Offset=10, and writing FITS files. A histogram of the ADU values in the FITS images shows that the ADU values in the pixels are being changed, i.e., "stretched" (for astrophotography folks). What Sh...

Re: SharpCap and QHY600M: Optimal Gain Setting
Dear Robin, Thank you for all of those insightful thoughts about "gain" settings for SharpCap and the QHY600M. Here is a note of agreement. The QHY600 User Manual shows the Read Noise has a sharp drop from 3.7 to 1.6 e- at "Gain Setting" = 57, referring to QHY's "Gain Settin...

Re: SharpCap and QHY600M: Optimal Gain Setting
Dear Robin, Your “Sensor Analysis” is absolutely brilliant. Thank you for creating this automated treasure. May I offer you some feedback about my experience with your Sensor Analysis? I have done this calculation myself many times (for different cameras), by assuming Poisson fluctuations in the arr...
