Re: Plate solving error
Update on this, sorry forgot to mention it last night when I was still outside. Going to Tools > Plate Solve produced the error reliably. However, when clicking the Plate Solv & Sync button in the EQMOD controls in the bottom right, it plate solved correctly!!!!! I found that when using Stellari...

Plate solving error
Sharpcap 3.2.6482 Nexstar 8SE Skywatcher EQ6r Pro ASI290MC I haven't had a single successful session with this new mount unfortunately. Every time I set up I get closer and closer to being able to do any sort of imaging, and can now successfully get a solid polar alignment using the SharpCap polar a...

Thank you! I was using darks in sharpcap but I will retry that and fiddle with exposure/gain even more to see what I get.

Hi, first, the maximum value of sigma that can be used is 250, although I suspect that this will eliminate all stars in almost all cases! Certainly turning it up should reduce the star count. I uploaded your image above to nova.astrometry.net, just to validate the size and position in the sky : htt...

Thank you so much! I will install the proper datasets. I was a little confused on which ones to download. Hopefully that helps it, and I'll tweak the sigma values along with it as well in my next attempted session (hopefully tonight!).

Re: Platesolving finding >1000 sources when there clearly isn't? Please help!
Realized I didn't include the Sigma in the platsolving settings, which I've set to 70 and still it reports hundreds upon hundreds of sources found. I tried setting it to like 500 just to see what would happen but it reverted back to 50. Is there a max setting for the sigma value in the platesolving ...

Platesolving finding >1000 sources when there clearly isn't? Please help!
Hi all! I have a Nexstar 8SE and it came with the standard Celestron altaz for it. Recently was gifted a Skywatcher EQ6R Pro so I'm learning the ropes. I got polar alignment working through Sharpcap excellently no issues. However, when attempting to go from the guide scope (I got the orion SSAG auto...
