Re: How do I use the focussing assistant?

aha!! I never even thought of that! Yes, I was trying to Bhatinov focus on a star before doing some lunar, so my camera was running at about 100fps. (I can't figure out how to work the contrast detection mode, so I slew slightly away from the moon to focus on a star instead) As soon as this horrible...

Re: How do I use the focussing assistant?

Thanks. I did discover (after posting this) that the graph display can be re-sized and this shows the actual Bhatinov star image. There appeared to be the coloured lines, but they flickered in and out and there was a brief warning in red text coming on and off. But unfortunately it was on screen too...

Re: How do I use the focussing assistant?

Ok I am trying autofocus with the Bhatinov mask. It says it's scanning focus but the triangles are all on a horizontal line. Shouldn't the focus be different at different focuser steps?

Where are all the youtube videos?

I use SharpCap for planetary and solar video capture prior to processing in AS! and Registax. I can work the basic camera controls and image capture but there seem to be a whole lot of tools in addition that I have never used (but which look super useful). The focussing assistant, for example. But I...

Re: Seeing Monitor units?

ok, so the units are arbitrary then, rather than arcsec or some specific measure?

Is the idea of this monitor to wait until the value increases sufficiently before starting image capture? As in, is it purely for my guidance? Or does it control the camera in some way?

Seeing Monitor units?

What are the units on the x-axis of the seeing monitor? How do I know what value is good? Is 6.4 good or bad? This is not explained in the manual

Thanks

Re: Can't get my focuser to work with SharpCap

Ok Robin I seem to have managed to fix the issue by just upgrading to the latest ASCOM (6.6 SP1) and the latest Pegasus drivers as you suggested. Thanks for your help!

Re: Can't get my focuser to work with SharpCap

Thanks Robin.

I am puzzled because this focuser works fine in NINA (which uses the native Pegasus driver via a UPBv2)

Are you sure 'motor move absolute' is not a Sharpcap command? Because that error was generated by my pressing the focuser IN arrow in the camera control panel

Can't get my focuser to work with SharpCap

I have a Pegasus motor focuser (not the FocusCube) which is controlled by an Ultimate Powerbox. But I can't manage to ever get SharpCap to talk to it.

Is this this the correct setting?

Re: How do I use the focussing assistant?

Hi, the initial use of SharpCap is designed to be started from one side of focus or the other - then tell it to scan towards best focus. It will go past, get the graph to show a peak/dip and then enable you to do best focus. Once you have done that once, SharpCap remembers the settings used and the...
