Re: Issues with Settings - Jupiter

That's too bad...I've long wanted the NexStar--to make seeking, finding, and imaging a bit easier. My scopes tend to stay in my garage, so they are (mostly) already at temps...I say mostly because when it's really hot, the garage holds the heat more. I get what you're saying, though. I am happy to s...

Re: Issues with Settings - Jupiter

Robin, thank you for your reply. I thought I still had the files--they may be on my son's laptop--but I didn't have them readily available. That said, for my laptop, I did what you recommended and reset to defaults. I also re-read the manual. Somehow I missed that there is a focus assistant. To be h...

Re: Issues with Settings - Jupiter

A couple of updates. I had a very short amount of time to get out to get Saturn tonight (which is my preferred first to settle any focus issues). Images were fine (if a little green/yellow on screen). A little soft-focused, but we were trying to hurry to save some time. No spiky/pixelated photos/ser...

Issues with Settings - Jupiter

Good afternoon all! If this is the wrong forum, I humbly apologize and ask that this be moved to the right place. I've been using Sharpcap with an SvBony SV305 for over two years and have not had many (any?) problems, save for when my Dob's mirrors got out of whack and we had to fix that. However, m...

Re: Jupiter and Saturn - Brand new to this

Not only this, but it was pretty cloudy. We had high level clouds the entire time, but we had a very short window when either was actually visible. I was beyond ecstatic.

We're going to try for Venus tonight. I know it won't be to any level of detail, but still practicing.

Re: Jupiter and Saturn - Brand new to this

The process you used in the first post isn't terribly different from what I did, don't remember reading that before. We just didn't use a barlow, but plan on it this weekend, provided the clouds cooperate. That said, I did have your guide to Jupiter (and Saturn, for that matter) and I had noticed th...

Re: Jupiter and Saturn - Brand new to this

Just the camera and telescope. Will probably try again with a Barlow on Saturday morning, provided the skies are clear. My son and I were tickled that we had success, expected it to be several tries before we got this result.

Jupiter and Saturn - Brand new to this

Over the past few days, my son and I have been figuring out SharpCap and the SV305. Friday night, we overexposed Jupiter and Saturn...I'd like to pretend on purpose, but no...had the exposure WAY too high. Of course, with Saturn on Friday night we managed to get a nice photo of Titan. That said, we ...
