Re: using a ASI585 with 4.1
Today I put a finder scope onto the camera and did a daylight test with it pointing to a distant tree. This was to test the Dome NUC software and the cabling etc. On start up I had the yellow screen but was able to move the centre curser on the right hand side stretch icon more to the right and got ...

Re: using a ASI585 with 4.1
I have looked at the FITS files and they have the expected green cast so it looks like they are being saved ok. I tested the camera on a different laptop during daylight on a distant tree and the image was perfect so when it stops raining I am going to the observatory and put a fish eye lens in the ...

Re: using a ASI585 with 4.1
Thanks for the advice. Another session last night did not have a repeat of the problem but its still a real challenge to get a viewable image on the screen. Using the lower right hand side histogram lightning bolt produces a profound yellow picture which cannot be adjusted out. If I use live stacks ...

using a ASI585 with 4.1
Using my ASI585MC for the first time I encountered an issue where the Sharpcap image screen suddenly divided into two sections. The image was full size but a deep blue in colour (stars could be seen) with a smaller overlay in the top left corner which was white (also with stars) . This overlay occup...

Re: measuring double star seperation
I have looked into this a bit more and I can see that it can be done in plate solving and by using a bit of maths.

measuring double star seperation
A question came up regarding filar measuring device and It occurred to me that it might be possible to create something that placed two curser lines on an image that could have one curser line fixed and the other moved on the image with some sort of numerical value shown of the separation between th...

out of date warning message
A while back I beta tested the QHY268m humidity software and its been ok. Each time I started the software I had the warning come up about the fact that this was beta software. Since then I think there have been a couple of updates offered when Sharpcap starts which I have installed. The current ver...

Re: Celestron starsense
One other use for the tool would be where I have changed the kit on the mount and the clutches have been unlocked and locked again on the RA and Dec axis. If the errors stack up the plate solve parameters can be outside of the adjustment range so I just get a warning that the mount cannot be calibra...

Re: Celestron starsense
I could see at a glance that I need to (say) move the DEC up 3 degrees (one turn of the DEC knob and (say) advance the RA 2 degrees which means hold the increase button for 15 seconds
