Re: Version 4.1 plate solving issues

Thanks for the reply and you are correct in that I had 4.0 using the cygwin_ansvr where as the 4.1 was set to Sharpcaps own plate solving engine. I have changed 4.1 to match the 4.0 settings so just need a clear night to test I think what fooled me was the self test in 4.1 reporting all was good. Ei...

Re: Version 4.1 plate solving issues

Yes the files for the 0.25 have been downloaded. I will look again to see what the differences are between 4.0 and 4.1. Any clues in the log file that might point to a solution? I am aware that the camera has a small chip but it never fails to plate solve and sync with the settings in 4.0 so I figur...

Version 4.1 plate solving issues

version 4.0 using 8 second exposures plate solves first time every time. Version 4.1 either comes up with a message cannot plate solve or complains that too few stars present and asks for more gain or exposure time. setting the exposure to 30 seconds and the gain 500 makes no difference. The camera ...

Re: using a ASI585 with 4.1

Today I put a finder scope onto the camera and did a daylight test with it pointing to a distant tree. This was to test the Dome NUC software and the cabling etc. On start up I had the yellow screen but was able to move the centre curser on the right hand side stretch icon more to the right and got ...

Re: using a ASI585 with 4.1

I have looked at the FITS files and they have the expected green cast so it looks like they are being saved ok. I tested the camera on a different laptop during daylight on a distant tree and the image was perfect so when it stops raining I am going to the observatory and put a fish eye lens in the ...

Re: using a ASI585 with 4.1

Thanks for the advice. Another session last night did not have a repeat of the problem but its still a real challenge to get a viewable image on the screen. Using the lower right hand side histogram lightning bolt produces a profound yellow picture which cannot be adjusted out. If I use live stacks ...

using a ASI585 with 4.1

Using my ASI585MC for the first time I encountered an issue where the Sharpcap image screen suddenly divided into two sections. The image was full size but a deep blue in colour (stars could be seen) with a smaller overlay in the top left corner which was white (also with stars) . This overlay occup...

Re: measuring double star seperation

I have looked into this a bit more and I can see that it can be done in plate solving and by using a bit of maths.

measuring double star seperation

A question came up regarding filar measuring device and It occurred to me that it might be possible to create something that placed two curser lines on an image that could have one curser line fixed and the other moved on the image with some sort of numerical value shown of the separation between th...

SharpCap 4.1.10652

I will download and give it a test but it looks perfect to me on the screen dump posted elsewhere.
