Re: got multiple crashes using the surface stabilization on the Moon

Hi Bob, thanks for sending the bug reports - always useful. I have located them and I can work out from the info the problem that is causing the crash. Unfortunately, it looks like that problem was a result of something else not quite being right and I have to try to work backwards to understand wh...

Re: Jupiter: C8, 2X barlow, ASI120MC

Hi Dave

Sounds like a plan. Borodog is the guru on the settings, etc and has a series of youtube videos that pretty much lay it out.

and the previous videos

Re: Jupiter: C8, 2X barlow, ASI120MC

Nice!

What would be cool next time is to proceed with the AS!3 (there is a AS!4 btw) registax route, and also use the planetary livestack feature in SC. I think you will be pleasantly surprised with the result of livestacking and processing adjustments on the fly.

Re: got multiple crashes using the surface stabilization on the Moon

thanks Robin Really appreciate your efforts. "I was also having trouble with the auto-colour-balance last night - it worked well enough if you have saturation=1, but if you have turned it up to 10 or more for the mineral moon effect, the 'auto' results were always far enough out to give a signi...

got multiple crashes using the surface stabilization on the Moon

Hi Sent them along as automatic crash reports around 5:00UT. I tried different ROI, and still got it. Surface, multiple point, I think it was the latest version. I pretended that I was capturing a planet and used feature tracking, with planet/disk selected and a single point, and I stopped getting t...

Re: Mask over exposed pixels =On during darks

thanks. But please realize I was not being critical of my blown out stars.

I just thought of a way to reduce the effect a bit.

No need to do the AP-ish separation of stars and low contrast content. The images we all generate with your EAA tool are wonderful.

Re: Mask over exposed pixels =On during darks

Hi Robin Thanks for the reply. Yes, I use that mask in an unconventional way I guess. I can see why you hadn't thought to disable it during dark capture. I have blown out stars in my EAA captures. I invoke masking overexposed pixels to take out the central core of the star. I think it helps with the...

Mask over exposed pixels =On during darks

Greetings I recently acquired a few more hot pixels, so I wanted to generate a new dark frame. Much to my surprise, when I was done, I got MORE hot pixels (!) I scratched my head for a bit, a few dead ends, but finally realized that while darks and flats and background subtraction were automatically...

Re: Mineral Moon Sharpcap Surface Stabilization EAA 12/28/23

Thanks Robin That 'rind' I thought was just a natural consequence of the wavelet sharpening process. Since I'm a EAA purist (and a bit lazy) I just keep it, but others who do planetary lucky imaging mask it out post-process. If you can figure out a way to do it as part of the livestack workflow, tha...

Mineral Moon Sharpcap Surface Stabilization EAA 12/28/23

Hi All Have been playing around with the surface stabilization on the full lunar disk. At first, I used full disk/planet with rgb align and got reddish artifacts. I thought at first it was the L-pro filter I was using (I didn't want to mess with my DSO imaging train at rip out and replace with a uv-...
