Re: Access to individual darks and flats?

Thanks for your help, Robin, really appreciate it. Btw, I saw a video tutorial that you gave - can't remember much of it, I don't think it was about SC per se. I think it was more about the revolution in Astrophotography that the newer CMOS and dedicated astrocams have brought about. Some of the tec...

Re: Access to individual darks and flats?

So bottom line - I can capture flats, darks, bias etc. using the "Configure Capture" window in SC with the appropriate camera settings and save them as individual files with appropriate names just as I would capture lights. That won't get me masters but it will get me individual files. Is ...

Re: Access to individual darks and flats?

But if the whole point of wanting access to individual darks and flats would be to use them in a program other than Sharpcap (like DSS) how would using the virtual folder monitor help?

Access to individual darks and flats?

I haven't done it, but I know it is possible to capture darks and flats in Sharpcap which are then applied to the resulting "as seen" stacked image which can then be saved for further processed in Photoshop, etc. But what if you want to have access to the individual flats and darks so that...

Re: Can't figure out how to set up focuser in Sharpcap

Update - Issue resolved. So another dumb example of inattention...Going to the focuser "Settings" in Sharpcap brings up a ZWO box. At the bottom left of that box there is a radio button for "Advanced". There are only a few settings in Advanced, but one of them specifies the maxim...

Re: Can't figure out how to set up focuser in Sharpcap

I got the ZWO EAF focuser to work in Sharpcap. I still get the error message in Ascom Platform but I don't think that matters as long as I can control it in SC. I did notice one odd thing tho. When I first set the focuser up in SC I was able to set a 0 - 60,000 range. But the first time I actually u...

Re: Can't figure out how to set up focuser in Sharpcap

I installed a ZWO EAF yesterday. I also installed Ascom Platform and the focuser driver specified on the ZWO website. The focuser still doesn't show up in Ascom Platform - I keep getting an error message. Since it didn't show up in Ascom I wasn't surprised that it didn't show up in Sharpcap either. ...

Problem saving raw frames in color

I have a ZWOASI385 color camera but when I stack images in Sharpcap it saves individual raw frames (tiff files) as grayscale. .My capture settings in Sharpcap are RAW16. Saved stacks are in color (fits) and the option to "Save Exactly As Seen" results in a color image but individual frames...

Fits & TIFFs always opens as gray scale in DSS

I would have posted this as a new question but I couldn't see that option in the forum even tho I've done it before?? So It doesn't matter whether my individual raw frames are saved as fits or tiffs, they always are gray scale files in DSS even tho I capture in RAW16 with a color ZWO camera. Any rea...

Live Stack vs. Start Capture

For Deep Sky - I suspect Live Stack would be the preferred capture mode if you are wanting to do EAA with family and friends and just want to watch an image build. And of course, you would have the option of the various save modes for further tweaking and post processing for later. But if EAA was no...
