Re: Alt AZ Skywatcher 14 goto Planetary Tracking
HI Robin Thanks Using faster speeds definitely helps reduce the 'not tracking' time, but at some point there may be an issue because the accuracy by which SharpCap can command *how long* the mount moves for is limited (how long does it take for the mount to respond to a move/stop command? Is it cons...

Re: Alt AZ Skywatcher 14 goto Planetary Tracking
Hi Robin, don't think that calibration on a fixed object then moving to the target is going to work well - Thanks for the explanation, that makes sense. But at least I think it demonstrates, that without tracking, on fixed object, the mechanics of the mount are sufficient for calibrations, and that ...

Re: Alt AZ Skywatcher 14 goto Planetary Tracking
Hi Robin You willl probably laugh at this, but we´ve gone full circle. One of the reasons, I know SC FT disables tracking (or used to) is that in 2022, I did a series of tests using a synthetic jupiter. Basically a flashlight on a tripod 30 meters away from my Dobson. I turned off tracking and was a...

Re: Alt AZ Skywatcher 14 goto Planetary Tracking
Hi Robin Yeah, agree that conditions were hugely sub optimal for testing. But at least we know that the reestablish tracking code works, and that at least the pulses move the mount in Dec + by small and consistent increments. Dealing with the backlash is the next challenge. I will try again, and exp...

Re: When making a sequence of captures, show the number of captures remaining
I had the same concern as Borodog the other night, some way of looking at past notifications would be very useful.

Re: Alt AZ Skywatcher 14 goto Planetary Tracking
Hi Robin Apologies my bad. Normally the cross is indeed centered in the planet. I just didnt notice as I was uploading the video I sent yesterday that the cross was not in the planet. The simple reason was that for that video I had gain turned up very high (723) to see jupiter throug the clouds- as ...

Re: Alt AZ Skywatcher 14 goto Planetary Tracking
Hi Robin Some more progress. 1)As you suggested, I increased required movement from 100 to 200 and it got through Dec and failed on RA a couple of times. I´ve attached a screen shot from one at 20:31 CET that should correspond to the times in the two logs attached- DEC and RA Screenshot 2024-02-07 2...

Re: Alt AZ Skywatcher 14 goto Planetary Tracking
Hi Robin Ok - so I used the correct command tonight "c:\Program Files\SharpCap 4.1 (64 bit)\SharpCap.exe" /prerelease The good news is that, the mount no longer drifts during calibration.Even when calibration fails, the mount reverts to tracking. However, I was not able to complete calibra...

Re: Alt AZ Skywatcher 14 goto Planetary Tracking
Ok - figured it out - I think - with the DOS command line  .Ran this command - and SC opened up! So I assume I'm in the pre-release version. "C:\Program Files (x86)\SharpCap 4.0\SharpCap.exe" /prerelease Here´s a series of updates over the past 2 days: EDIT So - I gave the pre-releas...

Re: Alt AZ Skywatcher 14 goto Planetary Tracking
Hi Robin OK - so then I assume it's in the latest update - I'm on 4.11680 - will try the 4.1.11757.0 from Jan 29. Also - what do you mean by the "/prerelease command line option" I see command line options mentioned in the advanced instructions - but Its not clear how I enter or enable the...
