Re: Source of polar alignment error in SharpCap?
Thanks, Robin. I bet you are correct about something shifting or flexing somewhere due to rotation. Now that I understand it I can test for it. Then the trick is how to mitigate it.

Source of polar alignment error in SharpCap?
Greetings. I'm wondering what are the potential sources of polar alignment error in SharpCap? Specifically, when I use SharpCap to polar align, I can get the reported error down to a few arc-seconds. However, when I then guide in PHD2, the drift in DEC is obvious. PHD2 might (for example) measure th...

Re: Auto focus tool
That you had to work on it that much and get Roins input means it is not a simple tool. There is to much involved in trying to get it working and understanding it. Some things that appear deceptively simple are inherently quite complicated. It's the old saying. Make things as simple as possible. Bu...

Robin,
I like that a lot. All post-stacking software that I am aware of lets you use both, dark subtraction and cosmetic correction.

Re: Problem with livestacks - dark subtraction - in EEA
Also not using a 294. I believe I saw it with both the 662 and 533 sensors, although it’s been a while, more than a month. For what it’s worth, I don’t recall seeing it the last time out, when I had a master dark comprised of 30 darks. I theorize that it may have to do with the number of darks in th...

Re: Problem with livestacks - dark subtraction - in EEA
I have also seen this, which I believe I communicated in a private email. Here is another report on CN: https://www.cloudynights.com/topic/921210-anyone-know-how-i-can-get-rid-of-these-green-dots/#entry13430665 That thread actually contains *two* reports, in fact, as MarMax (who also posts here) chi...

Re: Auto focus tool
I'd like to say SharpCap has become the go to for live EAA on NSN ( Night Skies Network) . It helps produce the very best images while live streaming a broadcast. Robin has done wonders with it. Each Time we turn around he has added a new fantastic feature. While not a knock on SharpCap and or Robi...

Re: Sequenced LRGB/refocus/mono-cam live stacking
Actually I just realized there is no need to register to the first light, as SharpCap will register and stack each successive light. You only to register the separate filter subs for each other to create each LRGB composite sub.

Re: Sequenced LRGB/refocus/mono-cam live stacking
If you are proficient with scripting, you should be able to accomplish this now, using two instances of SharpCap and scripted registration & processing software like Sirl. Use the sequence planner in SharpCap to automate the capture of the lights, switching of the filters, refocus, etc. Have a s...

Re: Mini-Histogram Stretch Button
I would like to 2nd the idea of 0.1 dB nudge buttons above and below the sliders. I rarely enjoy trying to find my keyboard keys in the dark. And imagine how difficult these small adjustments would be running SharpCap on a Surface tablet, as I know some people do.
