Re: FIT header RA seems off
Thank you for this helpful response. My first mistake was forgetting that RA is often displayed in hours min seconds not degrees. Thanks for that clarification The second point about the solver accuracy might be me experimenting with solving due to less than ideal observing conditions. So perhaps my...

FIT header RA seems off
Hi, I have an example image created by Sharpcap where the RA reported in the FIT header as displayed by ASTAP or FITs Liberator is in error by several degrees, although the dec value matches perfectly. FITs header RA = 38.67.. degrees Screenshot 2021-11-22 195459.png Actual mount position (middle of...

Separate RGB focus
One idea that might help the focussing of refractors on RGB sensors would be a focus aid like FWHM performed on each colour channel separately, but all displayed together The focus of each channel is not identical unless one has a very highly corrected telescope, so displaying a focus score for each...

Re: GPCAM2 290C Dropping Frames
It's a good guide for maximising the frame rate, but that doesn't directly seem to be the problem here. I just use 17.5fps at 8 bits/1920x18080 as a surrogate for seeing that the camera is working. If it is doing that then it seems reliable. I don't image with the camera at a high frame rate, only f...

Re: GPCAM2 290C Dropping Frames
The reliability seemed to improve slightly when the "always on" USB function is enabled either with Lenovo Vantage or via the BIOS. This has the downside that the battery slowly discharges when the computer is off. Maybe it will work for you? On occasions, the camera has worked at 17.5fps ...

Re: GPCAM2 290C Dropping Frames
Hi, I have tried the performance mode in the power plan settings and the settings made on pervious pages of this thread, it does not seem to make any difference. Another option I will explore is the "always on USB" setting. This is supposed to be for charging devices via USB with the lapto...

Re: GPCAM2 290C Dropping Frames
I was wondering if anyone else had experienced these frame dropping events with the GPCAM2 290C. I am having the same issues as described above. I have a Lenovo E590 computer, which is up to date, running the current Altair camera drivers. I have made another interesting observation, by setting the ...
