Re: Failed Plate Solving & Polar Alignment
Hi Robin, It's taken a little while but I thought I would reply to close this out. The issue was 100% user error and exactly what you suspected, I was way off with the position of my mount. The problem is that its has been months since I have been in the observatory and I had totally forgotten that ...

Re: Failed Plate Solving & Polar Alignment
Thanks Robyn,
I will give that a try, just to confirm, I have a permanent observatory setup with the same camera, scope, mount setup that has worked previously. I will let you know either way how I go.
Appreciate the reply.
Cheers,
Bill.

Failed Plate Solving & Polar Alignment
Hi All, I have been using Sharpcap Pro for a few years now and it's been fantastic. Lately though, plate solving fails (in the real world, test seems to work) and I can't get polar alignment to advance to the next section after it has found stars. I have attached image of Sharpcap polar alignment se...

Re: Live Stacking With Full Moon In The Sky
Has anyone who used live stacking had any trouble with the Full Moon in the sky? I used SharpCap and used live stacking on nebula (Lagoon, Trifid, Swan, and Ring Nebula). Somehow it would not stack even though I got it to get 5 second exposure by slowing down the frame rate close to 1 frame every 5...

Re: White Balance Settings for Nebula
Hi Bill, I think we are still slightly talking at cross purposes. Let me have another go to make sure I've explained clearly: * Any colour balance/brightness/contrast/gamma controls in the right-hand panel (except for the mini histogram stretch) affect the frame data before it even gets to SharpCap...

Re: White Balance Settings for Nebula
Hi Robin, Appreciate the explanation, so I am clear (your last sentence in brackets) once a new frame is added to the stacked image, any changes to white balance, brightness will be added to the overall stack not just the display copy? I noticed that SharpCap will automatically save FIT's of each su...

Re: White Balance Settings for Nebula
Hi Robin, I know this is an old post but I am new to all of this. I have spent my time trying all the imaging software available and have settled on SharpCap Pro for my planetary and DSO imaging. Overall, for me it seems like the best and most comprehensive package so I use it from the start of a se...
