60s (unguided) is possible out of my setup?
You will have to try it to find out. A good polar alignment will be needed coupled with a careful star alignment.

Re: Reasonable Expectations

Hi Robin thanks for the (as ever) helpful reply. My Bahtinov pattern indicates that focus is pretty much "on". so if exp=30s / gain =150 are good settings to apply, would there be anything else in Sharpcap to change for the better? I'm thinking change to .fits instead of .tif files? - if y...

Re: Getting Better Data - Help Needed.

You could try to add a bit more distance between reducer and camera but I doubt that will help: I just noticed that the stars are not elongated and most of the times just that is a sign of too little or too much reducer/camera backfocus . See image below showing how it would look like. The camera a...

Re: Getting Better Data - Help Needed.

thanks for the advice. Having just measured the backfocus there's definitely (at least) 55mm from reducer to Zwo sensor.

my setup (front to back) is:

Scope > Optolong LP Filter > Stellamira 0.8 Reducer/Flattener > Zwo tubes > Zwo 183 MC Pro

Re: Getting Better Data - Help Needed.

hi Robin
thanks for the reply. I'm using a Bahtinov and the "spike" looks pretty sharp (at 100%) and aligned as per this online image that I've used as a guide:

Re: No Colour Captured

yep, it's definitely a case of adding a debayering stage to the pre-stacking process.
PiPP has done the job nicely.

workflow now =

Capture [Sharpcap] > Debayer [PiPP] > Stack [DSS] > Processing [PShop / Affinity]

Re: No Colour Captured

thanks Robin

I've just in the last hour or so installed Pipp and debayered - as RGGB (the tif file setting for the Zwo). awaiting the completed DSS stack to see what i have.
I'll report back
