Re: Pixel value tool and FX Highlight Over Exposed
Another vote to change the overexposed pixels in the Highlight Overexposed tool from black to red (at least for monochrome cameras). I was defocusing a bright star image with Highlight Overexposed, to spread the PSF out and reduce clipping. But it was hard to see the transition from "black pixe...

Re: Upgrading QHY 174 GPS Camera Firmware
Thanks. For me it was Windows 10 Home edition (64-bit), version 20H2, 19042.867.

Finally attempted the QHY174 firmware upgrade (successfully) and thought I'd share my experience. As others have noticed, it doesn't require detailed electronics knowledge, but prior experience successfully dis- and re-assembling devices with small connectors, ribbon cables etc. is essential. Take y...

Re: Filename template {Time}/{DateTime} format for UTC without `Z'
... how about 'U' as an alternative for 'Z' on times - Z adds the trailing Z and U doesn't That works, thanks. For completeness, I'd suggest supporting that for all the date/time tags -- e.g. {Date} and {DateTime} as well -- and adding support for `SZ' to {Time} -- it's not strictly needed there of...

Filename template {Time}/{DateTime} format for UTC without `Z'
In File -> SharpCap Settings -> Filenames -> Edit Filename Templates Manually, one can give the `:Z' or :SZ' formats to the {Date} tag to print in UTC or sortable (year-month-day) UTC format -- and neither print `Z' in the path (which is fine -- one can easily add it literally). But using `:Z' or `:...

Re: QHY 174 GPS Calibration LED issue // USB Traffic weirdness
Correct; all of the QHY cameras were (and are) run independently. As far as I know they did not use the Slave Mode.

Re: QHY 174 GPS Calibration LED issue // USB Traffic weirdness
Enhance the StartPos to maximum 9999.... and then reduce it until the LED goes on and then off, you will probably find several points where this occurs [...] [...] Kai Getrost found this problem too and calls it "Third-transition issue", Hadn't thought to explore it from the high (999...)...

Re: QHY 174 GPS Calibration LED issue // USB Traffic weirdness
... After a lot of investigation we discovered that if you don't have accurate calibration of the end and begin points then the output of the GPS system can be badly off (much more than you would think if you had the idea that the calibration was just fine tuning mechanism). ... The 'bad data' stat...

Re: QHY174 GPS calibration: Cause of Start/End Pos scale change
I think it was mostly option 1 - when I first had the GPS camera it seemed that the values in the initial smaller range would give good calibration ... Thanks. And to clarify -- were/are the SharpCap GUI-set Start/End Pos numeric values ever manipulated (scaled, offset, etc.) before being sent to t...

QHY174 GPS calibration: Cause of Start/End Pos scale change
Another question on QHY174 GPS calibration: the SharpCap interface for setting Start and End Pos has changed over time. As I recall, in 3.2.6062, Start Pos was settable 0-15K and defaulted 0, End Pos was settable 1-20K, defaulting to 1K. In 3.2.6226 or thereabouts, both changed to a range of 0 - ~1B...
