Re: neutral settings for capturing
I am running a ZWO 1600MC Pro camera. Here is what my experimentation has shown. SharpCap’s Image Control Tab – White Balance (R) and (B) settings, control the Camera’s individual ch gains. Changing this affects the ‘RAW’ data output by the camera. So, when the RAW data reaches SharpCap, it has alre...

Re: M63 - Sunflower galaxy
Brian ……. PHD2 total RMS was 0.49 to 0.77arcsec for the duration. Second factor is short exposure. The third factor is that I deployed differential stretch (small stars as opposed to using Star Reduction script). So, I think all three attributed to this. …… V.P

M63 - Sunflower galaxy
M63 – Sunflower galaxy. This is my fist serious attempt at AP. I have tried different things here with the goal of working out some of the bugs in many areas. Wanted to share this image given our discussion of Internal vs External calibration. This is all Internal SC calibration. Eq used: TEC140, G1...

Re: Staggered cooling/warming for cooled cameras
I see a need for this too.
Would be nice to have the Option to ramp up OR ramp down on a preset path.
Also, if the sensor is already at the setpoint – then ignore ramp up OR ramp down (would happen when changing preset profiles).

Re: SC subs - internal OR external calibration?
Brian ….. thank you. We were on the same page. Dave …... all your points are very valid. For example, I just came in after 4hr of imaging – and will not know if the calibrated subs are any good till I process them further. There is no going back in this case. Also, can’t argue with results …. as to ...

Re: SC subs - internal OR external calibration?
Brian …….. your point would be in favor of doing internal calibration of Light subs – correct? Using the internal calibration routine (via 'Dark Capture' and 'Flat/Bias Capture' and the preprocess tab), SharpCap will then output the most efficiently calibrated Light sub.

Re: SC subs - internal OR external calibration?
Hi Chris, Bruce and Dave, Chris ….. Thanks for pointing me to your prior tests. That was an extensive set of tests for which we in the SC community are grateful (will have to study it in more detail if I run into issues). I am not using Live Stacking but just using SC as an acquisition tool just bec...

SC subs - internal OR external calibration?
I would like to know how many SharpCap users are using the program's internal Darks/Flats/Bias routine to automatically generate calibrated subs? OR are you generating the Darks/Flats/Bias/Lights separately and then using an external program like PI to generate calibrated subs? I see a few different...

Re: Beginners Workflow for Live Stacking plus focus and target Tips
A very helpful video. I have been using the ‘Brain’ all this time. However, I think there is some very useful info here. You have also presented it in a very concise fashion.
Thanks,
